A Fourth of July Front Porch

I know I am late sharing my Fourth of July front porch, but I don’t want summer to end, and I am so excited to finally have a porch. I have a wonderful wrap-around proper front porch on my new house and I am so looking forward to decorating for all of the holidays. There was not a lot of time to get it decked out for the Fourth of July since I moved in, but I managed to get it trimmed out a little bit this year.

Fourth of July PorchPart of the reason I haven’t had much time to get it together in the new house is because I have had three very special visitors who arrived five days after we moved in.  My daughter came from Germany with my two granddaughters and we have been having the most marvelous summer.  I did manage to get some red, white and blue bunting to hang on the porch railings.  Fourth of July BabiesThese two little darlings were here to enjoy a small town Fourth of July with a parade and popsicles, time to play in the wading pool and the splash pad.  I loved seeing them all decked out in their red, white and blue.  This white double rocker came from my parents last home.  I love sitting on the front porch rocking my girls.  I added a new blue cushion from Pier One Imports and a fun patriotic throw that I picked up at Home Goods.  In many parts of the country the throw would be nice to wrap around you when the evenings get cool, but there isn’t any need for that here in Florida.  For me, it is purely decorative.

Fourth of July WreathI did have time to whip up this simple but festive wreath by wrapping an old straw wreath form with red burlap ribbon and adding some miniature American flags and a crisp white bow.  I am not wild about the green door, but I have only been here for a few weeks, I am sure the color on that door will be changing.  Fourth of July Porch ChairsOn the other side of the front door are my newly purchased chairs from Pier One Imports flanking an old wicker table that was refreshed with some bright blue paint.  I added my red tray to the top and glasses and pitcher for some ice cold lemonade.  A little red chair that was a gift from great-grandma to the girls sits nearby, exactly where they want to be.  Another one of those patriotic throws and a flag-inspired pillows deck out the chairs for the holiday.   I know this isn’t my most inspired decor, but I am sure I will get the hang of decorating a porch for all seasons!  I hope you will stop in and check out what I have in mind for the rest of the Summer on my new porch.

I will be sharing this at the following link parties:
