A Stream-Side Dinner for Two with a Touch of Tuscany
I have been trying to squeeze in another date night diner for two with my husband recently, but weather and other obligations have continually gotten in the way. I had planned a lovely picnic in the park, but alas, recurring thunderstorms were just the beginning of the problem. With the July holidays and a family wedding, along with some evening business meetings, I just couldn’t see to get us together. I had my tablecloth, dishes, a bottle of wine and more tucked into a nice basket ready to go. Today was supposed to be a day of sailing, alas, thunderstorms also put an end to that idea, so off we went to the fishing club my husband belongs to. While my husband was out fishing, I snuck out to the car and gathered my basket of goodies from the car. This would not be my Italian dinner I had planned, but this would work!
On the back porch of the clubhouse is one table that overlooks “The Bar Pool”. I used some light green burlap and a gold table runner to begin setting the scene for our “Dinner for Two”.
A little pitcher filled with artificial sunflowers, a bottle of Tuscan wine and a lovely sunflower dish I had found were the only centerpieces needed.
Sitting near this lovely flowing stream made for a lovely evening for my husband and I. The Club was so nice to arrange to serve us out on this patio. It wasn’t my Italian – inspired menu, but it was a nice surprise when my husband came in from fishing to find this lovely table set for us on the back porch. He was totally surprised!
This was the first time I ever surprised my husband at the Trout Club, but it won’t be the last, I will do this again sometime when he least expects it!
I have shared this post at the following link parties:
What a beautiful spot you created! Love the new plates, I have to really limit my visits to HG 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Jenna! I won’t add sound to my blog, but you should have heard the stream! It was delightful! I too, have a little bit of a Home Goods problem! Five Guys Burgers is right next door to mine, so I feel it is a success if I don’t have lunch at Five Guys!
So sweet!! I love how you had everything with you to surprise him. What a wonderful date surprise 🙂
Thank you, I wish I could say I had really planned ahead, it was more like a lucky mistake, in that I had left the box of all the tabletop goods in the trunk of his car! He was really surprised though!
You made it work Chloe and that’s all that counts. I know you have so many ideas on how to use the clubhouse again. The dishes are perfect and a great find.
Thanks Sandra, always nice to hear from you!
