An Anniversary Party in The Hamptons

I was so very fortunate to be able to attend a wonderful anniversary party with dear friends in the Hamptons this past weekend.  It was a wonderful weekend of friends and family, food and fun all experienced in the beauty of Long Island, New York.  I had never been to the Hamptons and yet have heard so much about them.  I can tell you now, I know I will be going back.  We actually didn’t get to all that much of the Hamptons, we went to Southampton, Hampton Bays and Riverhead, the party we attended was in Quogue.  Hamptons-anniversary-party

When we walked around the house and came upon this gorgeous table we knew we were being welcomed to a very special event.  The afternoon was to begin with a pool party, and although the pool was crystal clear and warm, the unseasonally cool weather left the pool as something to gaze at and sit around instead of something to dive into. Hamptons-anniversary-party-poolside

You can see by how folks were dressed, it wasn’t exactly pool weather.  The hosts had prepared everything so nicely, there were lots of comfortable places for guests to gather.  View-of-house-and-pool

This is a view of the house and pool from out in the yard.  Everyone was having a great time.  The bar was set up under the orange striped umbrella and manned by a competent bartender.Canopy-floating-above-the-dining-tableThe canopy of natural fabric floated gracefully above the table, suspended by thin wires that ran between tree limbs that had been secured into the ground with pieces of rebar.  Then blooming branches were attached to the base of each limb.  The effect was beautiful, and just enough for the lovely yard and setting for this gathering.  White-party-table

The long white table was accompanied by white chairs and dressed with one long burlap-look fabric runner.  Each place setting held a white linen napkin and white handled flatware along with a wine and water glass.  Bottles of Pellegrino sparkling water were available and tea lights and beautiful floral centerpieces added to the elegant table.  An-elegant-clambakeThe food table was dressed in the same burlap-look tablecloth as the dining table runner,  with white dishes and baskets offering up the most delicious fare.  We were invited to a ‘clambake’ but this was the most elegant clambake I have ever been to.  There was lobster, mussels, clams, airline chicken breasts, corn on the cob, slaw, potatoes and delicious cornbread.  No one went away hungry, that is for sure!Guests-lined-up-to-partake

Party-ON!

…and on and on!

It was an amazing party, with wonderful people, delicious food and an absolutely fantastic time had by all!  I hope you are as fortunate as I was to get to be invited to parties like this and be able to share wonderful times like this with your family and friends.  I was so lucky to be able to attend this marvelous anniversary party in the Hamptons.

  1. What a lovely party! I haven’t been to the Hamptons, but it’s one of the places I’d love to visit. My husband and I are going to Cape Cod this summer for our 25th Anniversary. This will be my first time to Cape Cod, but I’m originally from the Northeast and love New England.

    1. Oh Dawn, you must go, it is so wonderful and there are so many little hamlets to discover! The beaches were stunning. I will be sharing more of my visit there in the next few weeks! I have never been to the Northeast beyond New York, never to Massachusetts or Maine and the pictures I see look so appealing, I hope you have a wonderful time in Cape Cod! Please share pictures over at Joyful Scribblings! Happy Anniversary!! Hugs! Chloe

  2. Oh, what a beautiful party, and what a clever idea to anchor the trees to support the overhead fabric. Beautiful food too. Thank you for sharing this inspiration.
