A Beach Ball Tablescape

If you want to host a dinner party with a fun summertime vibe, you can’t go wrong with a beach ball theme!   The next best thing to going to the beach or pool is to host a beachy themed dinner party. It is time for a pop of color after a dreary winter, isn’t it? Several summers ago I hosted this fun beach ball themed cocktail party which didn’t involve a beach ball tablescape, but after the party, looking around at the decor, I knew I couldn’t let it all go without dressing a table.   Setting an easy summer tablescape is so much fun with a beach ball theme!

The place settings for a beach ball tablescape need to fun and colorful! Unfortunately these cute Kate Spade plates are no longer available, but I just bought myself these multi color stripe melamine plates that are ONLY $14.00 for four plates! If you want to go with disposable plates, these are perfect!

This was such an easy way to set a fun summer table setting. My rather formal, but simple modern glass topped table was dressed with multi-colored placemats that were topped with my everyday white square dinner plates.  Those placemats aren’t available any longer, but these fun ones carry through the beachy theme! The white square plates were used as chargers beneath these striped melamine dinner plates.

Instead of fresh flowers, tuck some beachy-like grasses into a basket for a centerpiece and add a few beach balls and sand toys! If you can’t do the real thing, this beach theme is the perfect backdrop to get you in the summertime mood! This doesn’t take much time to plan and execute, either!

The floral arrangement I used for the party was perfect for the tablescape, still sporting cute little beach balls and other sand toys along with some grasses and flowers to give that beachy feel.

Use mini beach balls on your tabletop! You can use a Sharpie to write names on the balls and use them as place cards.

If you would like a table runner, use a fun summer beach towel down the center of the table! You may also choose to fill glass bottles or mason jars with sand for a beachy centerpiece, although I think my favorite part of this beach theme was no real sand was left behind!!

Bright colors are a great way to add to your summer celebration. Striped linen napkins are a perfect complement for your pretty summer tablescape, too!

Instead of ocean driftwood, I’ll check out the banks of Seneca Creek and Roaring Creek for some, plus water-smoothed rock. Bonus points for beach glass. And shells.

I have a recipe for Sand Pudding that I serve in a plastic beach bucket and matching scoop – I think that will be perfect with this theme!

Hot dogs or hamburgers would be perfect on the grill for this, too, I think.
