These napkin rings dress up your cloth napkins for a seasonal or holiday table. You will find this is a great way to enhance a themed tablescape.
Begin by cutting some cardboard tubes into two inch pieces. For me that seemed to be the perfect size. You may make your homemade napkin rings any size you would like!
You can cut most cardboard tubes with just a pair of scissors. Don’t worry if there is a raw edge left, with these simple napkin rings you won’t notice at all when they are complete.
Begin this diy project with your cardboard tubes and some hemp rope. Get out your hot glue gun and glue the end of the rope to the inside of the cardboard tube.
Next, put a little bit of hot glue on the cardboard and begin wrapping the tube with the hemp cord. I began by tucking an end of the hemp rope inside the end of the tube and glued it there, then I just added a very little bit of hot glue and rolled the rope tightly around each cardboard tube.  When I got to the other end, I glued the end securely to the edge of the cardboard tube.
There you have four of the rings with the rope secured to each one.  When you use a hot glue to secure the rope the entire tube gets much firmer and will not get bent out of shape.
The final step was to glue a seashell to each napkin ring. Â You can use this same idea and add all kinds of things to your rings. You could add mini pumpkins for a Thanksgiving table or a velvet bow for your Christmas table. Â This easy diy napkin ring is just the thing your coastal table setting needs.
These unique napkin rings your place settings just as mine does above. It is especially pretty when you fold the fabric napkin before you pull it through your napkin ring and fan it out as shown above! This coastal napkin ring is a perfect addition to a beach themed tablescape.
I had some of this stuff in my craft stash. If you The spool of rope cost me $9.99 but I only used half of the spool so I created six lovely napkin rings for just about $5.00!  Are you trying to figure out what my tablescape is going to look like? Â

Super cute, Chloe. I’ve been saving tp rolls to get around to doing this, and here’s your prompt. Love the seashell ornament on each. They look store bought!
I’m looking forward to all the tablescape next week. 🙂
Thank you Rita! I am looking forward to all of the tablescapes, too!
Chole, Love your idea about the napkin rings. You have such wonderful ideas on your site. Keep up the great work. Thanks again. Gaye
Thank you Gaye!

Oh, Gaye, thank you so much! I am happy to have you visit!
This is such a cute idea. I’m always looking for new napkin rings to change the look of my place setting and sometimes this can be quite pricey. I’m going to try this. You could embellish them with different things depending on the theme or season. Thanks so much for idea and the great instructions, I hope that you have a wonderful day, and I can’t wait to see all the beautiful tablescapes next Thursday!!!
Thank you Shannon, I agree, they can get so pricey! I am ready to see all of the tablescapes, too!
I like them. The hemp could be decorated with many things – seasonal objects to change the look – I have a beach theme at my house for the rest of the summer so this appeals very much to me. I’m also hosting a dinner tonight with a “western trail ride” theme, so could use something rustic like these and perhaps find little horsehoes, cowboy boot, etc. (even a cactus!) to glue on. Thanks for sharing this.
I thought the same thing Barb!
Great idea! I plan to make some of these. Thanks for the inspiration!
thank you Joy!
I’ve seen similar ones at Pier One and they were quite pricey. Recycling the toilet paper roll opens up a world of possibilities. Thank you for sharing your creativity and this money saving tip.
Chloe, what a great idea and so easy, I am so excited to be a part of your first blog hop! Happy Weekend, Pam @ Everyday Living
Thank you Pam, I am excited to see how the hop comes off!
Those napkin rings are AWESOME!! I’m so excited that someone had such a great idea for toilet paper rolls!! I can’t wait to see your whole table setting.
This is such a great idea!! It’s so simple, yet so pretty…there is always something to make from toilet paper roll (I love them). 🙂
Thanks Renata, I am always trying to come up with new ways to use them!

Thank you Lori! See you at the hop1
Fun, simple, and inexpensive = amazing! I would totally purchase these first because you just have to say coastal and I am there and second they look totally professionally made. Thanks so much for sharing and looking forward to the blog hop!

Great napkins rings!! I love anything with jute!! Can’t wait for the big reveal 🙂 Thanks for sharing with us at TaDa Thursday!!!
Thank you Susanne, I better get to work editing photos!
Chloe, thank you so much! These are great! Love to find creative uses for tp rolls. But I’m not clear on where to apply the glue before rolling on the twine. Please advise.
Thanks Carlin! I just used the hot glue in the beginning just inside the edge of roll, I started the rope just inside and then I added the glue onto the outside of the roll and pushed the rope tightly into the glue. Be careful, you can feel the heat from the hot glue on the inside, through the cardboard. I hope that answers your question, if you need more, let me know!
What a great idea! Guess I shouldn’t toss those TP holders in the recycling bin. 🙂
Thank you Laura…I keep wondering what I can use those for.
How creative and environment conscious at the same time! This is a beautiful way to recycle. Such lovely napkin rings. I can’t wait to see your tablescape!
Thank you Kim, I am always looking for ways to use things I would normally throw away or recycle.
You’ve elevated the lowly tiolet paper roll to new heights! I love the jute paired with shells for a coastal napkin ring. 🙂
This is so pretty! I would have never thought of using TP rolls. They make such a beautiful table setting. I would love for you to share your projects with my link party, Totally Terrific Tuesday!
Very sweet little napkin rings Chloe. Thrifty as well. The seashells add some fun. Thanks for hosting the Blog Hop. It is super fun!

Thank you, they are so easy, aren’t they?
Hahaha. Love this. I was so surprised when I saw it was toilet tissue centers that you started with but look where you ended up? These napkin rings are so understated and on trend. Love them. Thanks for sharing your idea.
Pamela
I really like these napkin rings, and want to thank you for the tutorial. They would fit nicely with the style I love and as along with everyone else, I never run out of bathroom tissue tubes. I’m glad I happened upon your blog!
Very kindly, Dana
Thank you Dana, I keep trying to come up with ideas to use them!

Chloe, I love this idea! I could make this project today as I already have the twine and of course, the toilet paper rolls (that’s a never ending resource!) Best kind of DIY: easy, cheap and effective. I know it goes beautifully with your Tablescape. Thanks for sharing at Your Inspired Designs.
Thanks Carol! I have been scolded all over Hometalk that I should not use toilet paper rolls…I really didn’t think my bathroom was that dirty, but I will use wrapping paper and paper towel tubes in the future.
Absolutely brilliant!! These are just beautiful, and I’m going to make some–thank you for the great idea.
Thanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I’m featuring you this week!
Thank you Richella, they are an easy craft with an impressive finish!
What a great idea, Chloe!! I am huge fan of recycling and have tons of TP rolls waiting, I’d love to make some of these!
Thanks for sharing with us at Sweet Inspiration party, enjoy your week!
Thanks Pilli, I like finding uses for things, too!
These are fabulous. I want to make a lot of them with varying trinkets so all (about 20) of the people who come for lunch here can have their own napkin and ring. Not sure of the size cord you bought … 3mm? Thanks for sharing this (and I really don’t believe TP rolls are all that nasty; sometimes I think these warnings are just a little over the top).
Thank you Catherine, I really got scolded! I think it was 3mm hemp rope. I love that idea of individualizing them!
Chloe…these are adorable and such a great repurpose and recycle. Great job and thanks for linking!
Thanks Denise!
These napkin rings turned out amazing, Chloe! I love the coastal feel that you have added!! So clever!
Thank you for sharing your brilliant project over at Waste Not Wednesday! We are featuring your project this week and can’t wait to see what awesomeness you share with us this week 🙂
Thank you so much! Heading over to party with you!
This is so adorable! You could make your project more secure by running vertical stitches through the rope
Great idea!! It’s so simple, yet so pretty…there is always something to make from toilet paper roll. You are so creative. Thanks for sharing your post.
Squeeee…..so cute! I have been saving paper towel rolls just for napkin rings with 2 of my children’s weddings coming up. I have not had anything particular in mind yet. So thrilled to find this! Doing this now for my son’s rehearsal dinner which will be on the beach. Dollar Tree has the perfect shells for this that I am going to run out and buy. I love little extra touches that I can incorporate in events to make everything a bit more special and add a bit of flair.
Thanks so much Cindy! Happy Crafting! I know your custom napkin rings will bring a special touch to your event!
