An Elegant Coastal Tablescape

I know it is full blown Winter here in the Northern Hemisphere, but living in Florida, I couldn’t help it, I styled this elegant coastal tablescape to get me dreaming of some beach time.  I hope you enjoy  this bit of beachy inspiration.Elegant Coastal Tablescape

DSC_0016elegantI used this ruffled throw for a Winter Wonderland tablescape a few weeks ago, but when I looked at it again, I thought it also looked like the way the sand looks under the water where the waves are gentle.  Of course sand isn’t white, but this throw from Ikea gives me the same feeling of the movement of the water.DSC_0021hyoklsI found these dinner plates after we got these chairs from Ballard Design for our dining room.  The color goes so perfectly.  The napkins are also a complementary color to the print on my dining chairs.

A net, some driftwood, shells, and starfish were tucked into and around my large aluminum shell dish.

I used my Oneida Classic Shell flatware with silver chargers and turquoise dinner plates which came from Home Goods.

aabbThe sea life dessert plates came from Home Goods a few years ago.  aabI have had this big shell dish for many years, I love using it to serve seafood on ice for parties, but it seemed the perfect centerpiece for this tablescape.

For stemware I used silver goblets I have had for several years and my Marquis by Waterford Brookside goblets.

napkinrings2I decided to make my own napkin rings for this tablescape.  I used this set of four silver plastic napkin rings I bought for $1 at the Dollar Tree.

napkinringsIt was very easy to just use small starfish and hot glue one to each of the napkin rings.  I am sure I will use these again in the future.  They looked great on the napkins and on the table.

  1. Chloe, what a beautiful setting. The throw is perfect for a beach theme. The sea life dessert plates and the star fish napkin rings bring the beach right to the table! Happy Thursday!

  2. Love it. The sand is white under the water and on the beaches at Grand Cayman, so that ruffled throw is absolutely perfect to me! I think I’ve told you before I have slipcovers for a couple Parsons chairs in the same fabric as your DR chairs, and those colors just make me smile. Beautiful centerpiece too.

  3. Love it all. Delightful tablescape right now to cheer us for what’s coming. The Gulf coast sand is the most gorgeous white!

Clever DIY napkin rings and I love the silver, white and aqua. The way you draped the net under the shell centerpiece container with driftwood and starfish looks wonderful. Great learning technique how it softened and unified your centerpiece with the rest of the table.

  4. Chloe, you have me dreaming of Summer this morning. Your tablescape is gorgeous and made me smile this morning. I am sick of Winter! I am ready for some color and warmer temperatures. I love the way you embellished the dollar store napkin rings. I didn’t know they had napkin rings. I am going to have to check this out. The possibilities are endless for embellishing them. I hope that you are having a wonderful week!!!

  6. I love it Chloe! Anything colorful and cheerful is welcome especially at this time of year! The throw was a brilliant idea! Your chairs from Ballard look so pretty. Of course I love the dishes! The napkin rings turned out so cute- what a great idea.

  7. Chloe, love the entire tablescape and those chairs are such a match. I had to laugh about the napkin rings. Last Christmas I used them and glued ribbon around them to match my theme. I have been looking for blank plastic napkin rings to decorate and all I can find is heavy unfinished wood ones locally.
It seems we live near each other.

  8. Chloe, this tablescape is so pretty, as usual. It reminds me of the first tablescape blog hop we did last summer. I can’t wait to here about your trip to NYC and the hometalk.com experience. Sounds intriguing.

  9. I am in love with this color palette! This time of year is always a little tricky for me when it comes to colors. It’s too early for spring and everything outside is drab. Your table is very inspirational and those octopus plates are just too cute.
