My Holiday Home

Coastal Holiday Home tourWelcome to a peek into my holiday home.  I am starting inside today, planning to bring you my outdoor home decor next week.  I have decided to decorate in a coastal style this year, keeping with the general style of my home.

I really like this view of my tree showing a little of the sail from my large model sailboat that sits between my living room and my family room.I am only sharing a little bit of my tree today because I will be sharing a post all about my tree next Monday, on December 4th.

This tree sits in the corner of my living room, but in clear view from our family room, too.  Peacock decorated Christmas TreeThis lovely white tree sits in the corner of my dining room, so that when you enter my home there is a tree both to your right and to your left.  This one is in complementary colors to my coastal tree, but styled with peacocks.  You can see more of this tree at my post, Peacock Christmas Tree.Coastal Holiday Home tourOur fireplace really dominates the family room with its massive size.  This fireplace has been quite the center of attention in this house.  If you really want to read the whole story, you can at The Fireplace Saga.  I wanted to add plenty of decor to my fireplace this year, but keep easy access to the television behind the two large doors. The center of my mantel is anchored with this oblong arrangement that I made using artificial evergreens and eucalyptus.  Christmas ornaments, ribbons, shells and faux coral completed the look.  If you want to duplicate this look in your home, even in different colors, you can find a step by step tutorial at my Coastal Christmas Arrangement.  Coastal Holiday Home tourHanging above my mantel arrangement, from my garland is my “merman Santa”.  I fashioned my garland by using  both an evergreen and a gray-green leafy garland together.  Adding the gray greenery to all of my coastal arrangements gave it a softer, somewhat more casual and beach-like look than simply using evergreens.  Coastal Holiday Home tourMy blanket ladder got a little Christmas dressing with a pair of white furry stockings tied with sparkly pale blue bows and the addition of a couple of preserved boxwood wreaths.  Coastal Holiday Home tour

For a little whimsy, I trimmed my lobster trap in the firebox with multi-colored Christmas lights!  Coastal Holiday Home tourAn oversized loving cup is filled with more of my blue ornaments, some glittery snowy blooms and faux evergreens.  This is a great view with the reflection of my fireplace in the mirror.  Coastal Holiday Home tour

  2. Chloe, your coastal style looks perfect in your home’s natural decor! My favorites are the lobster trap (a perfect whimsy in a coastal theme, and the with the lights!), and the merman Santa mantel arrangement. The ladder with wreaths and stockings is a classic touch in your coastal theme. Really pretty in all. Thank you for spearheading this gathering of so many great bloggers with all their different styles. I love the variety. Happy Holidays!

    1. Thanks so much Jenna! My “merman” was perfect for that spot over my mantel. I found him at my local At Home store. I want to head out and see if they have any left to add to my tree! I wish the rest of the house was as complete, I have a little more work to do!

  4. Chloe, your home is beautiful! The colors are so soothing and happy. Your creations showcase your creativity. The lobster trap is delightful lit in colorful lights. Ingenious! Every tree and all the arrangements are stunning!

  5. Another winner Chloe….Living in Florida I can so appreciate your mantle decor. I love the blue colors. Many years ago, I always decorated a heavily flocked real tree with all blue lights and ornaments and my kids loved it so much, they would tell their spouses that blue was the way to go. haha…
I was thinking of using my lobster trap in my decor, but hadn’t figured out just where. What a great idea to use te fireplace.
    Kudos

  9. Chloe, your home looks beautiful with the blues and greens. We have a beach house that we rent out and I would love to decorate it for Christmas one year but my husband would rather have that rent check at Christmas. I would decorate it exactly like you have. 13. I remember your “fireplace saga” and am so happy for you that you could decorate it this year without the problems you had. The aqua and white of your coastal Christmas decor is so pretty and perfect for your location. You are ingenious to have your TV covered up and yet have it accessible along with creating a festive look around it. The merman Santa is so unique and ties in wonderfully as does that lobster trap. 20. Hi Chloe, absolutely love your coastal theme decor. Being in education; I motto is to copy, steal or borrow ideas from others. I am the mother of 5 daughters; so my youngest move away to attend college. She was feeling a little home sick lately. So I tried to imitate the nautical decor and in a combination of tiffany blue and silver colors for her small apartment. Being from the south, I still say God Bless You and Merry Christmas.
    Thank You
