A Lush Front Porch Decorated for Fall

My front porch is decorated for Fall.  Our weather is cooler than it has been, but certainly not “cool” by the standards of most of the United States.  For us in Florida, however, we are enjoying a break from the unbearable heat.  It is nice to sit out on the porch again, and I am really enjoying my front porch decorated for Fall.  A Lush Autumn Front Porch decorated for the season

A Cornucopia wreath graces this pretty front porch decorated for FallI didn’t bother to take my pots of Sansevieria out of my urns for Fall, I just added Fall leaves and floral picks and some wheat to the pots to give them a touch of Autumn and some color for the season.

Galvanized tubs of faux fall flowers and leaves add to the farmhouse feel of this Fall front porch

I have tried to keep pretty chrysanthemums on the steps, but alas, the combination of the heat and the yucky soil they pot them in, I have lost too many of them in just a few short days, so I decided to take advantage of the great sales at Michael’s and filled a couple of galvanized tubs with an array of faux Fall florals and leaves.  Each side of the front steps displays an array of faux pumpkins topped with the tubs of Fall florals.  I strung together Sycamore leaves to make garlands for the railings.  Dress up your plants by adding floral picks and wheat for fallEnhance your faux pumpkins with a wash of acrylic paint and add a faux floral pick.Adding some Fall floral picks to your collection of pumpkins is an easy way to add a little more interest to a Fall display.  A Cornucopia wreath pours forth with the bounty of the harvest greeting guests for ThanksgivingThe cornucopia on my wreath is overflowing with the fruits of the harvest.  For a detailed tutorial on how to create this wreath, you can see it at: Cornucopia Fall Wreath.  Make a Fall garland out of fallen fall leaves by stringing them on a string or yarnA Fall leaf garland is easy to make stringing fallen leaves on yarn or string.  This was the first time I tried this, and was happy with how they turned out.  They would probably be really beautiful up North with pretty colored leaves!  A fall garland of autumn leaves Here is how the garlands looked as I was working on them.  I thought perhaps they would crumble and fall off the yarn, but they have held up very well in both the rain and the wind. For a farmhouse feel to your front porch fill galvanized tubs or bushel baskets with faux fall flowersI added a wash to some of my pumpkins to make them look a little more realistic.  I was happy with how they turned out!A lush front porch all decked out for Fall with Fall florals and pumpkinsLots of Sycamore leaves have decided they are going to join the decor on the front porch, even if I sweep them off, they seem to re-appear!  A pretty Fall front porchThe final addition is a plaid Fall throw, just in case those nights get cool enough that I need a wrap!  One can dream!

  1. Hi Chloe- your front porch looks so cute. I really love the planters and how you embellished them. I especially like the leaf garlands- what a great look. Im staring at oodles of leaves outside but feel too lazy to try and string some together! The new faux pumpkins are wonderful aren’t they. Your porch is very welcoming!
    Have a great weekend!

  2. What a striking fall display on your porch. I want to sit on your rocker bench and chat a while. I love fall even though it warms up in the afternoon in the south. The cooler mornings and more moderate temps are not bad these days. That’s why we have fans on our porches in the south!
    Your fall decorations are pretty.

    1. Thank you Pam. The leaf garland didn’t take too long at all. My mom and I sat and chatted. We would just stack 4 or 5 leaves and stick a plastic needle with yarn on it through the stack. Maybe an hour for each one.

  3. Chloe, your front porch is absolutely gorgeous! I love all the pretty Fall color. What a wonderful idea making those leaf garlands. I will have to try that if Fall ever gets here. It has been unseasonably warm here in Oklahoma. Our leaves still look like Summer! I hope that you have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you Shannon! Isn’t it interesting, we still have 80 degree weather here, but the sycamores are losing their leaves like crazy. I just wish they had a little color to them!

  4. Chloe, your porch is fabulous! I might try stringing some of the sweet gum leaves from our yard. They are a pretty yellow and I could add red maple leaves also. Love the cornucopia you added to the wreath. I pinned the instructions so I’ll know where they are when I need them,,,ha!

  5. Lush and cozy! I’ve always wanted a porch big enough for a rocker and no doubt I would need a throw. Where did you find your faux pumpkins? I haven’t seen a large variety around here and add the wash to them makes a big difference. This beautiful set-up could easily take you through to Thanksgiving.
