The Fourth of July will be here before you know it.  Do you think you don’t have time to be creating some time-consuming, extravagant dessert?  Guess again!  Only 4 ingredients!  This is so easy, and so impressive, people will be wowed when you show up with this Fourth of July Firecracker Cake at your picnic.Easy Fourth of July Dessert - No-bake Firecracker Cake

For the smaller of the two firecrackers begin with a Family Size Sara Lee Pound Cake. (Isn’t that easy?)

Using a serrated edge knife, sculpt your pound cake into a rounded shape.Easy Fourth of July Dessert - No-bake Firecracker CakeFrost your cake with your favorite frosting, if you want this to be really easy, use your favorite canned frosting!  I used white frosting on both of these cakes.  Easy Fourth of July Dessert - No-bake Firecracker Cake

Apply the Skittles candies in a pattern as shown or use any pattern or repetition of colors you like.  If you have old children around the house, this is a great job for them.  Of course they will probably have to taste test some of those Skittles, and maybe a little frosting, too! Easy Fourth of July Dessert - No-bake Firecracker Cake

Easy Fourth of July Dessert - No-bake Firecracker CakeFinish adding the Skittles in the diagonal pattern until you have covered the entire cake.  Next, stick a piece of black licorice into the end as a fuse, and you have one firecracker finished.  Easy Fourth of July Dessert - No-bake Firecracker CakeRepeat the process with your smaller cake and there you have your impressive, and fun firecracker cakes.  Enjoy your Fourth of July and don’t spend your time in the kitchen with this easy, no-bake dessert!  I told you it was easy!  Enjoy your cakes and all the compliments you will receive!

  3. Such a cute idea Chloe and I love anything that is semi-homemade. I was thinking you could also use M & M’s in place of the skittles. I’ve not been down the candy aisle in awhile, but I didn’t realize they had a Skittles America mix.

  4. How about making 13 red and white stripes , then blue for the flag at top? and little drops of white somethings for the stars? Your idea is cuuute!!!
