Papaya Inspired Al Fresco Dining

Disclosure: I received the Melamine Picnic/Dinner Plates in exchange for sharing the information and my honest opinion. All opinions are mine. Please read Disclosure.

When I received these fun papaya inspired melamine plates from The Radish Store, I knew I was going to set a fun and retro table outside to entertain friends.  I wish my chairs had matched the new dishes, but that was overshadowed by my fun table!  Melamine plates are perfect for summer entertaining, I prefer to use these instead of disposable plates that aren’t nearly as strong and supportive for big burgers, ribs or steaks and can be used over and over again.  Papaya-Inspired-Tablescape

Al fresco dining just feels so good in the summertime and I loved the look of these colorful and easy to use outdoor dishes, and they really give off a modern/retro feel.  Sticking with the retro look, I chose a tablecloth with shades of orange and yellow that looks tie-dyed.Papaya inspired dishes

Didn’t these dishes help set a fun and festive table for summertime?  I used simple black handled flatware that I save for using outside to coordinate with the plates and easy to clean fun orange placemats.

I didn’t want to fight with the dish design with my centerpiece, so I recreated the look of the funky flowers by creating these fun foam flowers and planting them in a cute little orange bucket.  I served up beverages in yellow plastic cups that can also be used over and over again, yet won’t break should one accidentally hit the patio just like these plates! Paper lanterns over a summer table

Hanging paper lanterns in yellow and orange above the table was a fun touch to add to the party feeling of my table.  I love how paper lanterns make even a simple luncheon or dinner seem special or “fancy”.  Colorful Paper LanternsThese just might be the perfect dishes for your summer cookouts and will bring a bright splash of color to your outdoor table.

  1. I love these types of plates as they do not break. Plus they are not like they was when we was kids. As now they come in such fun colors and designs. That when we purchase new dishes this is what I will be looking for instead of regular China plates.

    1. Thanks Glenda! They are great when you have little ones around, aren’t they? No breaking!

  2. What a fun table! I love melamine in summer. And your color combo is a real winner!!
