Summer temperatures have arrived here in Florida which has me ready to start setting a fun summer tablescape.  When I finished taking down all of the nautical decor in my granddaughters’ room, I thought this would be the perfect time to style a nautical table.

Pioneer Woman red dinner plates are topped with white salad plates and nautical themed appetizer plates set the basics for my summer table.

At each end of the table I added an extra placemat and a few nautical accents.  A glass float, a buoy and a rope knot doorstop at one end and a pair of my own DIY driftwood sailboats on the other.

Wooden sailboat garlands discovered on sale last year at Target were perfect for setting up a fleet of tiny boats for a centerpiece.  The nautical flag garlands also came from Target.

I had no idea when I selected this chandelier that it would be such a creative spot for me to add decor above my table like I did with the wisteria for my springtime tablescape or these nautical flags.  I always love when a table stylist adds a touch of decor to the chairs and these flags that had been on the walls in my nautical nursery.

  1. I just love this Chloe. The flags and sailboats really are my favorites, and the rich reds and blues make it feel very authentically nautical. We’re at the beach right now, so it’s a winner on theme for that reason too. Catamaran sailboats are parked within sight just in front of us. At this point I only hope it’s spring for good when we return home !
Your chandelier makes a perfect area for finishing a table in style! And who would’ve thought Target?!

    1. Thank you Rita! How wonderful to be at the beach! I always think that is a dream of mine, living close enough to take a walk every morning on the beach! My husband and I were sailors on Lake Erie for a lot of years, so I have collected so many nautical accents over the years!

  2. Chloe, I love the nautical table. The appetizer plates are so cute. I agree with Rita that the rich reds and blues make it feel so authentic. The nautical flags on your chandelier are the finishing touch! Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thank you so much Pam! The appetizer plates had been used on our own sailboat for years, it is an adjustment to not be able to go out for a sail any longer, but, alas, we don’t spend enough time in Ohio to sail enough to make owning a boat any longer.

  3. Anchors aweigh Chloe, I just love this table! That centerpiece is wonderful. Wish I could run out to Target to buy a sailboat garland or two. If you ever want to part with one….. And, I think it’s great what u did with the light fixture overhead. I’d leave this display up most of the summer if I were you.

    1. Thanks so much Debbee! I put off buying those sailboat garlands last year and finally broke down when I got the best surprise at the register…they were 70% off! I went back and got all of them off the shelf! Alas, there weren’t anymore of them at other area Target stores…and…I might just be willing to part with one in the future. I have been hanging onto them to decorate a nautical Christmas tree one year!

  4. So creative as always, Chloe. I LOVE the “driftwood boats – and that fact that you re-purposed a large part of this from a “previous existence?” You are brilliant!!!
