Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas
Thanksgiving is just around the corner now that Halloween is behind us. Would you like a new idea for some home decor this year? I discovered this great new product this Fall that I wanted to try and it turned out to be perfect for giving my Thanksgiving decor a little boost.
I love how these gilded nuts, acorns and fruits look nestled in some Kraft paper shred in a large wooden bowl.
An inexpensive little wicker cornucopia filled with fruit and nuts would be lovely on your table or your sideboard, but I wanted to give my cornucopia a boost, so I gilded my pears, an acorn squash and some acorns and walnuts. Let them all tumble out onto the table.
With these little acorns, I decided to gild the nut part of the acorns and then to glitter the caps. I sealed the caps with clear nail polish to keep the glitter off the table and will scatter these down my dinner table.
This is the product I used. Viva Inka Gold Metallic Rub. I discovered this in the fine art and painting section of JoAnn’s and started by buying just one color to try it. I was so pleased with the results that I went back and bought more. This is such an easy product to use. You just rub it on any dry absorbent surface. I rubbed it on with my bare fingers, and it washes off and cleans up easily. I am only now beginning to think of all the things I can “gild” with this rub.
If you were going to use Inka Gold Metallic Rub, what would you use it on? It is available in ten different colors, so start thinking!
I love your gilded acorns and gourds, Chloe, thanks so much for sharing the info!
I don’t know what I’d gild but I know it would be fun! My thinking cap is on!
