I love hosting parties and I love being able to decorate to the nines! That often means investing in props and decorations. If I have spent some money on a perfect party prop, it seems so sad to only use it once every few years or so, but I have this great tip. Are you hosting a themed birthday party for kids on a Sunday afternoon? Take advantage of all the work you have done decorating and have an adult get-together on Saturday night! This same idea works for a kid’s birthday party on Saturday, and a baby or bridal shower on Sunday. Some great ideas that work for either/or might be:
A Pirate Theme
A Princess Theme
Halloween Theme
Alice in Wonderland Theme
Yes, it might make for a long weekend with a lot of work, but you save money and time! Do all the decorations once, use them twice!
Who can’t have fun at an Alice in Wonderland or Mad Hatter Party? Kids certainly can, but so can adults! Use a tablescape and the decorations like this for a Children’s Birthday Party and then a Bridal Shower.
This Halloween party would be fun for a themed dinner party one October evening and then recycle all those Halloween decorations for a children’s party the following weekend!
This sweet Tea Party could be a ladies’ luncheon on Saturday and a little girl’s doll party on Sunday. I am so excited about this idea, I am thinking of all the ways I could use different party themes to entertain two different sets of guests. If you could host a party twice, what theme would you use? What two kind of parties would you host using that theme?
Use your imagination, and do the work once, entertain twice!

Im having a bday party for my 2 year old at our new house so you can imagine how im trying to figure out how to decorate but it wont break the bank. Its pirate theme so im hoping things will be more affordable since the party will be after halloween in November 12. im hoping to get stuff on clearance. Any ideas that can work for this theme on a budget.
I think you should have no trouble picking up some bargains right after Halloween. Save some tin cans, glue them together, add a couple of cardboard “wheels” paint them black and you have little cannons to add to the table decor. You can also pick up some pirate themed fabric and cut out bandanas for the kids to wear, those along with dollar store eye patches should be a great start!
