Celebrate Your Story! #140

Link Party

August has arrived!  This week I say goodbye to my son in law and my granddaughters, but I am most happy that my daughter and her family will be be reunited!  This week and the next couple of weeks, Sandra will be taking a little break from Celebrate Your Story!  If you are joining us from Sweet Sensations, welcome!  I will be picking 4 features myself until Sandra rejoins us, which I found really difficult this week, there were so many great link ups this week!    On another note, Sandra and I are looking for another blogger to join us in hosting Celebrate Your Story!  If your blog is self hosted on WordPress and you are interested, please leave a comment below!

Table for One Lovely Tablescapes for Single Dining from My Wee Abode was my choice for a feature this week.  I love to entertain and set pretty tables for friends and family, but with my husband’s busy travel schedule, I often time find myself dining alone.  I never thought about setting a pretty spot at the table for myself, and yet, why shouldn’t I?  Julie lives alone and takes the time to do this, which I think is ideal!

Okay, honest, the reason I think I selected this Ice Cream Cone Cake from Mrs. Kringle’s Kitchen is because I think I want to eat it right now!  I have been admiring so many of these ice cream cakes in the past couple of years, I think it is time for me to get the ingredients and get in the kitchen! How creative is Carole to save these empty birdseed bags from a landfill, AND to make them into handy tote bags?!  Check out Birdseed Bag Totes over at From My Carolina Home for an easy step by step tutorial!  I think I might try this with some of those pretty bags from Marshall’s and T.J. Maxx.

I remember making beer bread when I was back in college and maybe even as a newlywed, so I was pleasantly surprised when I spotted How to Make Beer Bread: 3 Simple Ingredients and a Beer.   Tracey from The Kitchen is My Playground shared this easy and delicious recipe!

Some of you must be ready to get crafting, creating and shopping, because Christmas in July Jump Start from The Painted Apron was the most clicked link this past week!  Are you crafting already for the holidays?  I have to admit, I am having difficulty thinking about Fall or Halloween, or certainly, Christmas yet, even though I see the stores full of decor and crafting supplies.  Maybe I am just going to have to wander around Michael’s or Hobby Lobby until I get motivated!

  1. Oh my heavens, not Christmas, or even Halloween! But because I’m already seeing fallen acorns, I can see changes toward fall, yes. Still, the Christmas in July for deals is definitely a good marketing tactic (obviously!). Love how Carole made that bag and the tutorial, and Julie’s series of tables for one is a good little lesson for self-love!

  2. Chloe, I love Julie’s table(s) for one as those like me who have a 7 days on and 7 days off spouse. We do need to show a little self love for ourselves. Great job.
Michaels is already sending out the Fall coupons and ads….and Hobby Lobby has all Christmas up. Sigh! Heere it comes ready or not. 🙂
I sent you an email regarding the hosting, etc. Have a great and blessed day.
