An Alfresco Table for Autumn

As the crisp autumn evening sets in, there’s something magical about dining alfresco, surrounded by nature’s beauty. In this post, I’ve styled a table that captures the essence of fall’s charm. Adorned with garlands of aged maple leaves draped over a rustic table rod, the setting is both inviting and seasonally inspired. Grapevine placemats pair beautifully with black dinner plates, topped with stunning artichoke-patterned salad and bread plates from Bordallo Pinheiro. At the heart of the table, a simple centerpiece of aged maple leaf branches, accented with faux artichokes, adds the perfect fall touch.

My dear husband traveled in Europe this summer without me. (I was very happy to stay home.) I asked him if he went to Portugal to bring me home some Bordallo Pinherio dishes. He carried so many lovely pieces home and these artichoke ones were a total surprise.

I love to display these beautiful artificial artichokes all around my house, and for autumn these were perfect to nestle among these aged maple leaf garlands.

As I was setting the table I recalled that I had picked up these artichoke napkin rings from Pier One years ago…boy do I miss those stores!

The heat finally broke enough that I could enjoy styling a table out of doors.

The pop of purple compliments the purple tips on the artichokes.

Of course the perfect thing to serve will be some lovely roasted artichokes.

A table rod festooned with the aged maple leaf garland gives the feeling of dining under the autumn trees.

The magic comes alive as the sun begins to set and the mason jars full of little fairy lights begin to glow. These mason jars come with solar tops that power the fairy lights as the sun sets.

These lights add a twinkling charm to this intimate dinner party.

It is amazing how a table rod and some solar mason jars can turn an ordinary alfresco table into a table enhanced with an enchanting glow.
