Celebrate Fall with One Simple Family Tablescape

If you are looking for ideas for a simple fall tablescape, you need not look any further. This is a table you can set for dinner any night of the week from now and right on through September, October and November. Sitting down at this table you know that autumn is upon us.

Okay, yes,  I tend to go elaborate with my tablescapes.  I have no excuse, I LOVE to style fantasy, over the top tables.  This past week I spent time in Maryland with my daughter and granddaughters.  There were cookies to be baked and stories to be read, but no fancy tables.

a plaid fall tablecloth, a long wood cutting board with tiny pumpkins on it. a blue plate on a wicker placemat and a white pumpkin soup tureen on the blue plate. a wine glass with orange fall leaves on it

You can’t go wrong with a centerpiece as easy as this!  A wood cutting board topped with tiny pumpkins can last throughout the season!  If you are ready to add this centerpiece to your table and real pumpkins are not yet available, you can recreate this with a variety of artificial pumpkins.

This table was set for everyday use.  A quick trip to Target made this table so easy to style!  I know you have been to Target at least once this past week. I went twice on Friday alone! Take a look around the store and see what you can find that will bring the some fall decor to your dinner table. I will include all of the links beneath this post, so you can recreate the same look if you would like.

Bundles of wheat wrapped in burlap were a Home Goods find. I added the orange ribbons to carry the color up a little higher on the table. This is a fall decoration that can be used on a table or most anyplace in your home. Put these on a mantel, a coffee table, anyplace that needs a little bit of fall color.

My daughter uses cloth napkins with her girls.  It saves a lot of paper napkins!  These cream colored napkins and the wood napkin rings were things I already had on hand, these are great basics to keep on hand.

I love pumpkin soup tureens like these! Don’t you? These are such cute little individual ones! Once again, I found these at Target. They carry a large tureen you can serve from, too.

These cute little covered soup bowls are adorable, aren’t they?  For my granddaughters they are more likely to hold tomato soup than roasted pumpkin soup, but they would also be delish filled with some macaroni and cheese! The leaf trimmed goblets are Dollar Tree from last year, but they have similar ones this year, too!

Can you believe these are are melamine and bamboo plates?  I was sure they were stoneware until I picked one up at the store!  …and they are only $3 each!!  The placemats are from Target, too!

The pretty fall plaid tablecloth is a Target purchase, too!  It doesn’t take much to style this table and enjoy fall the remainder of the season!  I will have so many more fall tablescapes to inspire you.

  2. Plaid is so perfect for Fall, as the temps start to drop and we want cozy things! Your table is so attractive, it’s practical yet lovely enough for company too! Your daughter must do a lot of laundry using cloth napkins everyday, but such a nice way to dine! Love the colors, the plates {I love melamine plates that look like the real deal!!} and the pumpkin bowls. The centerpiece is so pretty too, great looking bread board! Thank you so much for hosting our hops, they are always so much fun and full of great ideas!

    1. Thank you Jenna. I bought my daughter about 20 everyday napkins for her to use. If they aren’t too dirty, the girls pull them back into a napkin ring and use them for the next meal, so I don’t think she has to wash them too often.

  3. Chloe this is super cute! Love the plaid and the melamine blue plates mixed with the darling mini white pumpkin bowls! Such a great idea to serve soup or macaroni and cheese in them! Can you bake in them? I think I need some!! So cute! Pinning!

I haven’t visited Target this fall. Thanks for sharing all your great finds. I was certain those blue palates were stoneware.

  5. Ok – I’m IN! Macaroni and cheese in those darling little pumpkins is my idea of the perfect dinner! Great table too, btw! 🙂 No, but seriously! Your tablecloth is the perfect anchor for the fun settings and pumpkin centerpiece. I’d love to be a guest at this table – just call me when the mac and cheese is ready! 🙂

  6. Loved your table, but unfortunately the day I received your email I checked with Target for some of the items you used. Target no longer has the tablecloth, the pumpkin tureens, nor the placemats. So disappointing.
