Chloe’s Inspiration ~ And They’re Off ~ A Kentucky Derby Party

…And they’re off…the beginning of what is called “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.”  Of course, if you want to throw a party, you certainly want it to last a little longer than two minutes.

I found these lovely vintage horse-related postage featured on the Oh So Beautiful Paper website.

These are the classiest Kentucky Derby Party invitations I have found.  These were created by Treasured Celebrations on Zazzle.  You can access these at his store on Zazzle here.

The website KentuckyDerbyProducts.com has lots of great food and party supply gifts to select from to create your perfect party.

No Kentucky Derby Party is complete without Mint Juleps.  This image comes from KentuckyDerby.com which has all kinds of ideas for creating your Derby Party.

Mint Julep Recipe

4 fresh mint sprigs
1 teaspoon of powdered sugar
2 teaspoons of water
crushed ice
2 1/2 ounces of bourbon whiskey

Muddle mint leaves, powdered sugar and water in a tall glass. Fill the glass with crushed ice and add bourbon. Pour into a julep cup, top with more ice, garnish with a mint leaf and serve with a straw.

I hope you enjoy these ideas, and they get you on your way.  Next week I will bring you a potential buffet menu for your Kentucky Derby Party!
