Fill a basket for your door this summer!

This summer I decided instead of a wreath I would fill a basket to display on my front door. I had this basket on hand, but you can find plenty of them on Amazon, at Michaels, Hobby Lobby or thrift stores!

You won’t need much for this project, a basket, some faux blooms, (I used red geraniums), some dry floral foam and some extra greenery.

You will want to wedge the pieces of floral foam into the basket so they are very tight and won’t wobble or loosen.

For my basket, I needed 2 full blocks and 2 partial blocks of dry foam. Because this is going to hang rather high on my front door, I didn’t need to cover the foam with moss.

I pulled out a bunch of artificial greenery I had on hand.

Take the longest draping pieces of greenery and insert those securely into the floral foam.

This is the same greenery I used around my front door, so I wanted it to have a prominent place in my arrangement.

I filled in the rest of the basket with miscellaneous faux greenery.

I had two geranium bushes I used for this project. Spread the branches apart and cut all of the blooms AND all of the stems with leaves apart with wire cutters.

Now it is time to add the flowers to the basket. Go ahead and stick them into the foam. If you are not happy with how they look, go ahead and move them around until you are happy with how they look.

Make sure you add plenty of the distinctive geranium leaves into your arrangement around the blooms.

Here it is, my basket of geraniums ready to greet guests. For the 4th of July I will add some little flags to the basket!
