Looking Toward Fall – The View from Foxglove Hill
It has been a busy week here at Foxglove Hill, with a little fall decorating and progress on a few projects around the house. The front entry is dressed for the season, and it makes me smile every time I come home! One of the most exciting updates is that the window treatments in the living and dining rooms are finally installed! It is so satisfying to see those rooms coming together. An old chair from our coastal home is also finally getting its turn at being reupholstered. I began decorating the pergola before an all-day rainstorm sent me back indoors, and now I’m looking forward to setting an autumn table out there and enjoying a meal outside. There is still plenty on my list, but it feels good to see progress!
This old chair has quite a history! My husband bought it at an auction in the late 1970s for just $2. He had it reupholstered with beautiful gray velvet on the back and sides and a light blue, cream, and gray flame stitch fabric on the seat and front. It fit beautifully into several of our homes before getting a new look around 1995 to suit our rustic ranch-style home. After our move to Florida, it received a coastal makeover. Now, with our Ralph Lauren-inspired décor at Foxglove Hill, it is time for another transformation!

I recently discovered a huge fabric store nearby that carries discontinued fabrics. With so many choices, it took me quite a while to decide, but this fabric was the winner! The catch is that once a fabric is gone, it is gone—there is no ordering more. We bought every bit they had, but my upholsterer is concerned there may not be enough to cover the entire chair. So, taking a little inspiration from its first makeover, I’m shopping for a sage green velvet for the back and sides. I can’t wait to see this familiar old chair in its newest outfit and share the transformation with you!

The cornstalks I brought home from our fall farm visit found their place at the front entry this week! I do miss our big porch in Florida, where my decorations were sheltered from the weather, but I’m enjoying dressing up our new entry for the season. I secured the cornstalks with large zip ties, then added bows and wreaths filled with fall florals and faux pumpkins for a warm autumn welcome.

After dressing up the front entry for fall, I turned my attention to the pergola. I had just begun adding branches and foliage when the skies opened up and sent me indoors! Today, I’m hoping to pick up where I left off and get this space ready for autumn tables and meals outside.

It feels so wonderful to finally have the window treatments installed in the living room, dining room, and foyer! These spaces are open to one another, so I wanted a unified look that would tie them together. I chose these beautiful curtains from Two Pages, and they arrived so quickly! Across the back of our house, a series of windows is separated by narrow sections of wall, so being able to customize the curtain sizes down to the inch made such a difference. The curtains I selected are the Sabrina Ramkhelawan Canyon Grove Cotton Print in Olive Blush. They bring another lovely layer of pattern to the rooms and complement the décor beautifully. I paired them with the Cato Single Decorative Traverse Rods, which I absolutely love! If you’re looking for curtain rods for your own home, these are ones I’m happy to recommend.

A Few Lovely Finds for Home
With all the projects happening here at Foxglove Hill, I’ve also been finding a little inspiration for the everyday comforts of home. This week, a few lovely things caught my eye: copper cookware that would look beautiful in the kitchen, inviting sheets for a cozy bed, and a gorgeous fall tablecloth that could set the scene for an autumn gathering. I thought you might enjoy a peek at these finds for your own home!
We also met with our kitchen designer this past week, and I can’t wait to get that project underway! I loved the induction cooktop in my previous kitchen and am looking forward to cooking with one again. I’ve dreamed of outfitting the new kitchen with beautiful copper cookware, but I was concerned it wouldn’t be compatible with induction. Then I found this stunning collection that works with induction—now I’m dreaming of seeing it in our new kitchen!

This French Verdure Tapestry Tablecloth will elevate any fall gathering!

I’ve dubbed one of our guest rooms “the garden room,” and it’s beginning to come together! The pair of daybeds I ordered has arrived, and I’ve selected these lovely Clover Sateen Sheets to dress them. They feel like such a pretty fit for a room inspired by the garden.

Thank you for stopping by Foxglove Hill and following along as we make this house our home. Perhaps you’ll find something among this week’s finds that calls to you, too! Until next week, I hope you find a little time to enjoy the comforts of home and the beauty of fall!
