People love the idea of creating higher end looks for their home for bargain prices. For example, who doesn’t want to save money and still set a pretty table for the holidays? I want to show you today that you can set a pretty table from the dollar store! I headed out to my local dollar store where everything is just $1. I spent $64 dollars to style this table for six for Thanksgiving.
Most of us already have dishes, glasses and several other items to set a pretty table, so perhaps you just want to pull out your own dishes and add a few of these elements to what you already have in your cupboards.
I began by rolling out one roll of white wrapping paper on the length of the table. I took three rolls of sticky backed shelf liner in an oak pattern and unrolled them across the width of my table to use as a base for my place settings.
I will be setting this table for a party of six. On top of the oak runners I have placed six maple leaf placemats. I chose to alternate the colors, orange and red.
Here you can see how I went about assembling my place settings. I topped each placemat with a gold charger, added one of these pretty plates with the Fall leaves and acorns. Can you believe those beautiful plates were just $1? I really like to add a contrasting salad or dessert plate to my tablescapes, but alas, none were to be found. I saw these willow small wreaths and thought they would complement my table.
A lovely table that expresses the Fall season was set for everyone to sit and enjoy giving thanks and enjoying a meal together. OH! FULL DISCLOSURE HERE…I already had the flatware! That is the only thing on the table that did not cost a dollar each! It was a bargain purchase from IKEA.
Jars are filled with golden wrapped candies, decorated with a bow and added to each place setting as a take away favor.
Centerpieces can be simple, it is the company that we celebrate this day. Nothing expensive required here, orange dinner plates atop larger willow wreaths were decked with a pumpkin and some gold embellished votives. One package of Fall leaves was all it took to further add some decor to the tabletop.
May you be blessed to share a Thanksgiving meal with those you care about this season.
