Style a Coastal Bedroom

My home is a low country or coastal style, so my interior design style was easy to decide upon. I don’t have a beach house, but I have incorporated a bit of a nautical vibe feeding my personal style. Today I am sharing my bedroom and my Wednesday Which One? feature, showing your both high end choices and lower end choices with coastal bedroom ideas.

This is just a little glimpse into my bedroom. This stylish lamp was handmade by a gentleman who is sadly no longer making them. I love my pale blue walls with my board and batten styling. You can see this isn’t really a beachy bedroom but has that coastal vibe. The paint color on my walls is Cumulus Cotton by Benjamin Moore. I have incorporated natural materials in my handmade oyster shell lamps on the bedside stands.

Although I selected board and batten, shiplap walls are a great way to get that coastal grandmother look. I didn’t have any natural light in my bedroom, so I had my woodworker make these beautiful windows that open into my bright bathroom and allow the light to pour in.

Which one? Wednesday

Let’s get started! You will be able to see from the photos of my room compared to the rooms suggested below, you don’t need to select all high end pieces or all low end pieces to get your own timeless look. Whichever look you are drawn to, you will see they both incorporate soft colors, natural textures

High end coastal bedroom look:

Coastal bedroom furniture is a personal choice. If you want more of a fan of beach style bedrooms, you might want to go with a rattan or seagrass bed. Like this one that sells for $648. Bedrooms are personal spaces and should reflect your personal style!

A good book for more coastal decorating ideas, is Coastal: Mrs. Howard’s Guide to Decorating With the Colors of Sea and Sky.

Keep checking in on Wednesdays and soon I will be showing you my living room in the coming weeks.
