The View from Foxglove Hill: One Fall Table, Three Ways & Favorite Autumn Accents

One of my favorite parts of setting a table is experimenting with what I already have. A different centerpiece can change the feeling of a table, even when the dishes, placemats, glassware, and flatware stay the same. For this setting, I tried three centerpiece looks and changed the napkins for some of the variations, giving each version its own personality.

There are natural textures, lovely autumn colors, and ideas you could borrow for a fall dinner with friends or your Thanksgiving gathering. I’m sharing a closer look at each version, along with a few thoughts about what I liked best. Sometimes it takes trying a few things before a table feels just right!

Take a look at all three fall centerpiece ideas over on the blog, and let me know which one you would choose for your own table. I always enjoy hearing what catches your eye!

The Little Details That Make It Feel Like Fall

My fall decorating doesn’t stop at the dining table! Gold pomegranates, golden acorns, pinecones, and antlers are some of the pieces I reach for throughout the season. Gathered on a kitchen tray, tucked into a bowl, or arranged on a shelf, they bring autumn into the smaller corners of the house, too. See how I have added details to my kitchen!

While a centerpiece brings autumn to the dining table, some of my favorite seasonal touches are much smaller. A few gold pomegranates, golden acorns, pinecones, or antlers can bring that same feeling to a kitchen tray, a bowl on the coffee table, or a little arrangement on a shelf. These are the pieces I reach for when a spot needs just a hint of fall.

A Little Autumn Gold, Pinecones and Antlers

I love the soft gleam of gold pomegranates and golden pears mixed with natural textures. Tucked into a wooden bowl or gathered on a tray, they add a pretty bit of shine. You don’t need a large collection, either—a few pieces nestled around a vase or beside a small lamp can make an everyday vignette feel ready for the season.

Antlers add another interesting shape to the mix. I like how their curves break up an arrangement of rounded pumpkins, pomegranates, or pinecones. Try resting one beside a bowl or working it into a low arrangement, leaving enough room for its shape to stand out.

Bringing Fall to a Kitchen Tray

A tray is an easy place to gather a few of these favorites. Start with something taller, such as a small lamp or a vase of autumn stems, then add a bowl of pinecones or gold pomegranates. A few golden acorns tucked nearby provide the finishing touch. Leave a little breathing room so you can enjoy the individual pieces—and still have space for the things you use every day!

Just as changing the centerpiece gave my fall table a fresh look, moving these little accents around can refresh a corner of the house. That’s part of the fun: pulling out familiar favorites and finding a different place to enjoy them.
