Valentine’s Taffy Sundae

This is the sweetest Valentine’s treat and such a nice little gift that is also a decoration! I like to gift these to people who work in offices, they can put them on their desks and share the saltwater taffy with their fellow office workers! Read on for the easy to follow instructions!

Step One:

Gather all of your supplies for this project.

Supplies:

Pink Saltwater taffy
White Saltwater taffy
Styrofoam ball
Ice Cream dish
Tacky adhesive
Valentine M & M mix
Straight pins
Chocolate rose wrapped in red foil

Step Two:

Put some candies in the bottom of your ice cream sundae dish. I selected the Cupid’s mix M & M’s . You could also use Conversation Hearts if you wanted. Use some kind of tacky adhesive like Tacky of Loctite around the edges of the top of the sundae dish to secure the styrofoam ball.

Use a styrofoam ball that fits securely in the sundae dish. I found a 3 inch or 3 and a half inch ball fit perfectly.

Wedge the ball down firmly onto the adhesive.

Step Three:

Start attaching the taffy. Begin with the pink strawberry taffy to represent pink ice cream on your “sundae”. Attach each piece of taffy with a straight pin through the paper wrapper. This is NOT a treat you want to give to children that might accidently put the pin in their mouths!

Attach the pieces as tightly together as you can and work all the way around the styrofoam ball.

When you have one row of the strawberry taffy done, start on a second row.

Add a third row and then add some of the white taffy suggestive of the whipped cream on the top of your “sundae”.

I used to always add a red gumball to the top of these, but spotted this chocolate rose wrapped in red foil and thought it would be the perfect way to finish off my Valentine’s sundae!

Cut the stem of the rose to just about four inches.

Push the wire stem down into the styrofoam ball at the top of the “sundae”.

Just like that you have an adorable Valentine’s treat!

  1. Very clever; especially the rose. Where did you get the colorful balls in the last photo? Glad you enjoyed the cruise and took a break. When you work at home, you never go home from work. One of your local radio guys just went on a Jimmy Buffet cruise with his family and had fun.

    1. Thank you so much Myrna! Those are tissue paper honeycomb balls. I love them for decorating for celebrations because I can fold them up and store them for future events! I got them on Amazon!
