Front Door Decor For Summer

It is time to have the front door decorated for summertime. I like to decorate after spring with something that can stay all summer long. If I can coordinate it with the patriotic holidays here in the US, all the better. Last year the front porch was all daisies, this year it is red geraniums!

I have had these heavy grapevines for a couple of years and wanted to use them on the front door this summer. Attaching come Command hooks around the door frame made it easy to stretch out the vines.

Below, you can see where one of the Command hooks is hiding. To cover up the hooks I simple attached some green faux vines. The greenery also softens the look of the vines.

I started all the way at the bottom of the pots on either side of the front door and took the vines up and over the doorway.

Instead of a wreath I selected this rectangular hanging basket to display more of the geraniums and bring more of that bright red color to the front door. You can see the step by step directions for this at: Fill a basket or your door this summer!

Each side of the front door is flanked with a tall black pot with faux boxwood balls that I keep out there year round. In addition I have added a pair of black pots filled with faux red carnations and lastly, a large clay pot filled with more of the same carnations.

A large chinoiserie bowl in bold blue and white is filled with even more of the bright red geraniums. If you look closely, you can see that someone was surveying my work from the dining room!

With the too hot summer months we aren’t doing much dining on the front porch, so a beautiful live fern tucked into another piece of chinoiserie dresses my table. The fern is a great way to bring greenery up onto the porch from the yard.

A beautiful place to sit and enjoy a cool glass of lemonade during the hot summer months! I just love how it all turned out!
