How to Make a Spooky Halloween Tree with Branches and Black Crows
Sometimes the simplest materials can make the most dramatic decorations, and this DIY Halloween tree is proof! With just a few found branches, a container, and some artificial black crows, you can create an eerie focal point that looks like it flew right out of a haunted forest. Whether you style it on your mantel like I did or on a treat table as a chilling party accent, this spooky tree adds height, drama, and just the right touch of Halloween magic.

I have this dark urn styled vase that I use over and over again for both artificial and fresh arrangements. It was the perfect choice for this project! Fill your container with some dry floral foam.

Add some Spanish moss to hide the floral foam. You should be able to just tuck it on the top of the foam, but if you need something to hold it in place, use floral pins.

I gathered some found branches and painted them black. It is simple and easy to puch these down into the floral foam. Add as many branches as you would like. I did make sure some where a little heavier or sturdier than others so I could attach some larger birds.

I bought a set of five crows from Amazon to use on my branches.

Use a heavy wood skewer and stick it into the largest crow as shown:

Stick that crow right into the foam at the top edge of your container like he is just resting on the edge of it.

Use hot glue to attach the other birds to the branches throughout the branches.

Spreading the crows out throughout my branches, I see this is not a murder of crows I would want to run into! Did you know that a group of crows is called a murder? Adds to the creep factor when you know that, doesn’t it?

This makes the perfect addition to my black and white Halloween Mantel! You can make yours as large or small as you would like!

Make yours super big and put it next to your front porch, or make a pair of small ones and use then on your table as a pair of centerpieces!
