The View from Somewhere at Sea
Last week, the view looked quite different from the one I usually share from Foxglove Hill! I traded the woods and lake for wide-open water as I headed off on a cruise with my sister. It was such a treat to step away from everyday routines, spend uninterrupted time together, and enjoy beautiful views, wonderful meals, and a few new adventures along the way. Today, I thought I would take you along and share some of my favorite moments from our week at sea.
One of the very best parts of this cruise was having uninterrupted time with my sister, Lynn. Since moving to Georgia, I don’t have the little moments we used to squeeze into our schedules. Life gets busy, and we don’t often have the opportunity to simply relax, laugh, explore, and enjoy each other’s company for an entire week. This happy photo of the two of us captures the spirit of our trip perfectly—and reminds me that the people we travel with are often what make the journey truly memorable.
Our home for the week was the beautiful Disney Wish, a ship I have now had the pleasure of sailing on several times. Although she has become wonderfully familiar to me, I still notice something special each time I step aboard. From the thoughtful details throughout the ship to Rapunzel and Pascal decorating the stern, the Disney Wish never seems to lose her magic—and I was especially happy to experience it all again with my sister.

One of the fun traditions on a Disney cruise is decorating your stateroom door. As we wandered through the hallways, we saw so many doors dressed up with colorful magnets, favorite characters, and personalized decorations. We joined in with these darling light-up Disney magnets featuring our names, and they added the sweetest touch of magic to our door. They also made our stateroom much easier to spot! Each evening, we returned to our stateroom to find another playful surprise waiting for us. Our stateroom attendant transformed ordinary white towels into the cutest collection of characters, and we couldn’t resist keeping them all together. These small, whimsical touches are part of what makes a Disney cruise feel so special, no matter your age.
With so much to see and do aboard the Disney Wish, our days seemed to pass much too quickly. We enjoyed wonderful meals, explored the ship, and made time to slow down and simply enjoy being together. Of course, some of my favorite moments were the quiet ones—looking out across the water, watching the sky change color, and remembering just how peaceful it can feel to be at sea.
Around Foxglove Hill
While I loved trading the view from Foxglove Hill for a beautiful view at sea, a rather ghostly project was waiting for me when I returned home! This week, I’m sharing two DIY fall centerpieces that celebrate the season in completely different ways. One begins with a white pumpkin overflowing with dried hydrangeas, vibrant orange flowers, autumn leaves, and miniature pumpkins. The other is a long, low arrangement filled with richly colored pumpkins, hydrangeas, and seasonal flowers in a rustic wooden container. Fall hosting essentials
I will admit, this is not exactly an “essential,” but I do have this sweet bowl with the little fox sitting on my kitchen counter these days!
I am really crushing on this beautiful dinnerware from Pottery Barn. I haven’t made the decision yet, but this might be coming home with me soon!
Although these antler candleholders are perfect for fall, I am thinking about how to include them in my winter and Christmas decor! These are pieces that can be use from September though March!
After a wonderful week at sea, it feels good to be home at Foxglove Hill and settling back into the familiar rhythms of everyday life. I returned with precious memories of time spent with my sister and plenty of inspiration for the season ahead.
