Favorite Things – New York City Inspiration
I am so fortunate to get to travel to New York City two or three times a year. My son lives in Manhattan, and my husband does quite a bit of business in New York, so whenever I get a chance, I head to the Big Apple! Look at the beauty in the detail of these pictures of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.
The lovely rose window is one of the major works of Charles Connick. The marble makes me think of the strength, not just of the building, but of the Church. Inside Saint Patrick’s you experience the calm and beauty, which is in great contrast to the bustling city outside. I like to take a few minutes to step inside Saint Patrick’s when I am in the city for some reflection.
I always try to get to the city at Christmastime to enjoy all the beautiful decorations and windows. In December I took these pictures of these beautiful windows at Bergdorf Goodman’s. I think I could take some inspiration from these to use for parties.
Was this a tribute to Elton John? I wondered because of the funky glasses.
Lastly, a long way from Bergdorf’s (at least in style and merchandise) is the flagship Disney Store on Times Square. I found these great ideas for party decor, particularly for the Alice in Wonderland themed Baby Shower I’m hosting later this year.
Round balls covered with different colored silk blossoms would add a festive touch to many different kinds of parties.
I love the idea of using these multiple paper lanterns hanging over my table for the upcoming Alice in Wonderland Baby Shower.
What city inspires you?
