Between Houses, Full of Plans

Life feels a little different these days.

For the first time in many years, I find myself between homes. My chapter in Celebration has come to a close, and the next one in Georgia hasn’t quite begun yet. It’s an unusual place to be – not quite settled, not quite rooted – but full of anticipation for what’s ahead.

Celebration was home for a long time. it’s where so many memories were made, where traditions took shape, where holidays were celebrated and tables were set for family and friends. Leaving a place that held so many beautiful moments is bittersweet, and I will always carry those years with me.

While one door has closed, another one is slowly opening.

Right now I’m living in that in-between space – the time where the moving boxes are packed, the plans are forming, and the imagination starts to run a little wild. I find myself dreaming about the new rooms to decorate, tables that will be set in a new dining rooms, flowers that will fill new vases, and the many gatherings that will happen in a house that will quickly become home.

The best part of this new chapter is the reason for the move. Our daughter, after six years of serving in the Army has settled in a lovely community in Georgia with her family. Our granddaughters are growing up so quickly, and being closer to them feels like the greatest gift of all. There will be more family dinners, more celebrations, more ordinary afternoons that turn into cherished memories – the kind that only come from being nearby.

So for now, life is a little bit between places.

But, it’s also full of plans.

And, if there is one thing I’ve learned over the the years, it’s that some of the sweetest chapters begin right in the middle of change.

Decorating Dreams for a New Home in Georgia

One of the things that always excites me most about a new home is imagining all the ways it will come to life over time. Before the furniture is perfectly placed or the walls are filled with artwork, there’s that wonderful stage where everything exists in your imagination.

I am crushing on this little ottoman with the fun fringe! Get it at a great Amazon price!

I’ve already caught myself daydreaming about what the rooms might become.

I’m picturing a dining table ready for Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings. There will be tablescapes for special occasions, of course! Layered plates, soft linens, little details that make a gathering feel just a bit more special. The dining table below might just be the one for all of those memorable celebrations!

The living spaces will be warm and inviting, with comfortable setting, beautiful lighting and textures that make a room feel lived-in and welcoming. I’m being drawn to rich woods, classic fabrics and pieces that feel timeless rather than trendy – the kind of things that make a house feel collected over time.

This chair could be one of the dreamy things that ends up in the new house! This color! The velvet! So lush!!

Georgia has such a beautiful tradition of gracious Southern homes – spaces that feel elegant but never too formal. That balance of comfort and beauty is exactly what I hope to create as we settle in.

I guess you can tell I am leaving the blues behind and embracing green in the new house! This comforter set might be replacing the blue and white check one on my gray four poster bed!

For now, these are just ideas forming in my mind, little plans waiting to take shape. IF you know me, you know I’ve already started gathering inspiration and maybe a few pieces in some shopping carts!

Of course, the first thing I will be unpacking are my favorite cherry blossom branches! I know I have shared them before, but I promise you, you will not regret owning these to display in your own home this spring!!

As I get moved in an unpacked, I look forward to getting back here on the blog in a more regular schedule!
