I love to decorate my home for the holidays, but I always have a challenge balancing Fall decor vs. decorating for Halloween.  This year I think I finally figured it out!   I decked out my front porch with cornstalks, pumpkins and mums.

The overview:

Check out the fall sign and the black and white buffalo check bows with fall leaves on the cornstalks.  I was happy with how my porch turned out…but it certainly doesn’t look ready for Halloween. Almost the same, right?  But with a touch of Halloween!

The doormats:

It is so easy to just switch out your doormat!  Go from fall to Halloween and back to fall again in seconds!

The wreaths:

A bountiful fall wreath of leaves, flowers and pumpkins decorate the front door for fall.A Halloween wreath goes up on the door in place of the fall one!
h3>Garland trim:

For fall, my DIY leaf garland is trimmed with black and white buffalo check bows. Easily switch out the bows with something creepy for Halloween!  Burlap ribbon with spiders and webs does the trick at my house.

Details:

Pumpkins and mums line my steps, but there is no reason to move those to switch it to Halloween…To see more of my fall decor you can see How to Add Fall Decor to Your Home.

Simply add a skeleton!  Better yet, paint jack o’ lantern faces on some of your pumpkins and turn them around for Halloween and then just turn them back to continue through until Halloween!

Near the front door, for fall I keep an lantern trimmed with faux leaves and another buffalo check bow.  My pretty lantern comes inside for a couple of weeks and this creepy light up tree of skulls takes its place!

A sign celebrating all things fall greets guests arriving at my home this fall.

Simply switching out a sign to one celebrating Halloween says “BOO” to trick or treaters!  I hope these ideas will have you switching out some of your fall decor for Halloween and then back again!  Happy fall, and Happy Halloween!
