Giant Skeleton Outdoor Halloween Decoration

This giant skull idea is sure to be the talk of the neighborhood! Imagine stepping onto your porch, greeted by not one, but three towering skeleton skulls that instantly set the spooky scene for Halloween. These oversized skulls create an unforgettable first impression, making your home the ultimate destination for trick-or-treaters, friends, and neighbors alike. Whether it’s daytime or night, these skulls add a hauntingly fun vibe that everyone will be talking about. Perfectly paired with eerie orange lighting and pumpkins, this bold decor will transform your front porch into a festive Halloween display that’s equal parts creepy and captivating. With these giant skulls, you’ll have the coolest, most eye-catching porch on the block—guaranteed to make this Halloween season one to remember!

The very first step after gathering your supplies is to drill a hole in the base of one of the giant skulls. This will slide over the trunk end of a slim Christmas tree.

After putting that first large skull over the trunk end of the tree, attach a slim Christmas tree (upside down) to your column. Use extra large heavy duty zip ties to firmly and securely attach the tree.

Drill holes in both sides of the remaining skull heads and feed one of the heavy duty zip ties through the holes.

Next step is to add your additional skulls. I used three of the giant size skulls and two smaller ones. Use the heavy duty zip ties to add the skulls right over top of the Christmas tree. The tree will be a good base for your skulls and additional garlands AND will keep the skulls from just sliding right down your columns.

I was fortunate that hurricane Helene left us plenty of broken oak branches that would add to the look I was going for!

Hopefully you can find some real branches to use, but if not, you can use artificial branches. Tuck the branches in around your skulls. You can secure them by tucking the stems into the zip ties and slipping them into the branches of the Christmas tree. Use the wire tips of the Christmas tree to secure the branches.

Add artificial garlands to add the color you want to your decor. I chose golden and champagne colored leaves along with my favorite “old maple leaf garlands“.

Finish off your decoration with orange Halloween lights. Plug them into a timer that turns them on at dusk and stays on as many hours as you want!

I thought this turned out so well that when I had to take it down with the impending hurricane Milton, and then put it back up afterwards!!
