Fall decor doesn’t need to be orange and red and brown and all those things. Sometimes it is the texture and the style not the color that evokes all of the Fall feels. With the advent of all of the artificial pumpkins available in different colors and the availability of more real white pumpkins, it is easier to create neutral fall decor.
What is Neutral:
Black, white, tan, gray and various shades of browns are what we think of as neutral colors. Metallics are often included in the neutral tones.
Neutral Fall Decor:
You can’t get much more neutral than book pages. There are so many amazing book page projects out there, but this DIY Fall Leaf Book Page Wreath from KariAnne of Thistlewood Farms says fall all over!
This sign is a great way to welcome fall than with all of the fall foods, items and activities. Karra from @bricksandburlaphome on Instagram shared this great neutral vignette that has me imagining all of those great fall fragrances.
Consider a string art craft like this one from Sonja and Jane from Sustain my Craft Habit created and used as the centerpiece for this neutral fall vignette. For contrast, add acorns or pinecones like the pinecone wreath featured here.
If you don’t want to use white pumpkins, you can always go with glass or wooden ones in grays or metallic colors. Ash from @my.california.ranch.home on Instagram gave her neutral vignette a fall feel by adding pumpkins.
Jennifer used white and pale green pumpkins and tucked a few fall leaves in pale greens and browns around your them. Add lights for a perfect way to greet guests. See how Jennifer styled this Lighted Fall Pumpkin Basket at Clean and Scentsible! What could be more perfect for neutral fall decor than a white centerpiece in a neutral colored pumpkin like this beautiful one by Wendy from At Lane and High.
If your home leans more to farmhouse, go simple with a display of white pumpkins and some old books. You can use this on a mantel like Roxanne from The Honeycomb Home did or recreate the same look on bookshelves.
Neutral tablescapes:
Use a crisp white tablecloth and a burlap runner to set the mood for your neutral fall tablescape decor. BonBon from Farmhouse 40 shows you how to get the look with her Fall Farmhouse Table.
This embellished runner from Home Goods is a great way to incorporate neutrals on your fall table. This was my Neutral Thanksgiving Table a couple of years ago.
A Golden Autumn Tablescape by Mary from Home is Where the Boat Is shows how to infuse neutral fall decor into a lovely table setting. The beige plaid throw makes the perfect tablecloth. Add a throw like this to your sofa or blanket ladder to help create a neutral fall look.
Jessica from @shiplapshanty on Instagram styled this neutral fall tablescape to welcome guests. Use a burlap runner and seagrass placemats to copy her look. Camel buffalo check napkins topped with white pumpkins and leaves round out her lovely table.
Gray flatware like this Walmart Pioneer Woman style is a great way to incorporate neutrals for your fall tablescape.
Neutral is awesome but Fall is All about vibrant colors . I love what you’ve done , as always . I would use it for background . Are you still in Florida ?
Yes, I am in Florida and I will be bringing on the reds and oranges in late September and early October, too!
Soothing, gentle and refreshing to my eyes.
Love it!
Thank you so much Lynn. My husband is happy with the muted colors, too.
