How much fun is it for a tablescaper to get to play in someone else’s dining room?  Visiting New York City is always fun for me and this week I made some time to stop in to my son and daughter in law’s home to play with her lovely dishes!
This From the Deep dinnerware is from Anthropologie.  The rustic tabletop is a perfect mix with the navy blue placemats.  Of course I HAD to have these octopus napkin rings to coordinate with the dinnerware!  The vivid blues of the sea creatures agains the palest of blue stripes on the dinnerware are lovely.  Dining rooms are rare in small Manhattan apartments, my son and daughter in law are happy they have the space to be able to host friends and family for a meal.

I thought about incorporating some blue iris on this table, but when I popped into Joann’s the other day I spotted this silver octopus.  I decided he was all I needed on this table.  The rustic tabletop reminds me of a the wood of a ship or a dock.

What would you think if this creature was creeping over the edge of your dinner plate?  The stemware is Platinum from Jung Lee.  My daughter in law and I are fans of Champagne, so water glasses were paired with Champagne flutes. I used solid white napkins with light blue trim.Salad plates are one of two different patterns this is the whale threatening the ship on the sea.

  1. That is one really cool tablescape! I have seen octopus while scuba diving, and they are every bit as creepy as they are cool. The table is perfect with the styling, and I love the heft of the placemats. Beautiful glassware and flatware too.

    1. Thank you so much Rita! I agree, they are both creepy and cool. It is amazing how they can contract into such small spaces, isn’t it? It was fun to play in someone else’s home with their fun things!
