Joy to the World Christmas Tablescape
I am always trying to create a unique Christmas tablescape ideas. Christmas dinner is a special time for family to gather. I try to make this time of year special, not just Christmas dinner, but several meals throughout the season. A special table setting is just one way to make a meal a special event.
My main inspiration was the Christmas carol, Joy to the World to title this beautiful Christmas tablescape.

How to set the scene for this festive Christmas tablescape
This is an easy diy that makes for an impressive holiday table. Begin styling this table with a roll of wrapping paper. You can select any wrapping paper that coordinates with the color scheme you choose. I chose to go with traditional red. There are so many different patterns of wrapping paper to choose from, but you would want something that does not have a horizontal pattern to it. Roll it down your entire table and onto the floor, leaving the roll on the floor for the time being.
Roll out a solid roll of paper on top of your patterned paper.
Measure the sides to make sure your runner is centered on your dining table.
Your table will be looking somewhat like this with the layers of papers down the center. If the top paper wants to move around, you can add a little double sided tape here or there to secure it.
Take a piece of your top paper, which could be white or kraft or butcher table. You can go free hand like my friend, Brian did for me, or use a machine to print out words. f Make sure you leave an ample amount of paper both above and below the message.
Use tape to add the paper with the message to the end of your table, positioning it so the message is read at the end of the table.
Create Your Christmas Centerpiece
The next step is to add a table centerpiece. I found this beautiful reindeer at Michaels on sale and have plans to use him all over the house. You can use a Christmas tree, candy canes, bottle brush trees, or anything to make a festive centerpiece. Use fresh greens and white roses if you would like. There are so many different ways to make a focal point for the center of your beautiful tablescape.
Adding More Christmas Decor to Your Table
Add something else to your table. It doesn’t matter what Christmas table decorations your add, just keep them coordinated. If you are styling more nature inspired centerpieces you could add pine cones scattered along the table runner. You can add taper candles or use chunky candlesticks like I did with pillar candles. The black picked up the black in the buffalo check wrapping paper.
Adding Greenery to Your Dinner Table
Nothing adds more festivity to your festive table than fresh greenery. Unfortunately here in Florida, I find the real thing hard to find. I have been known to buy Christmas greens up in Ohio or Maryland and bring them down in my suitcase. Since it is still a little early for me to get some, I am showing you what you can do with artificial greens. You can always substitute fresh ones. Add garlands down the center of your table. I began with a magnolia garland that I used on my Fall Mantel. Weave your garland among the items on your tabletop.
I layered a faux evergreen garland on top of the magnolia garland for fullness.
The Reveal of The Christmas Themed Tablescape
Make sure you add enough garland to let it drape over the end of your table and wrap around the words on the table runner as shown above! This is my favorite thing about this gorgeous tablescape!
You now have a stunning wrapping paper table runner! This will wow your guests!
Setting Your Christmas Tablescape
Now it is time to set your table! I found these sweet red and black buffalo check salad plates at Kohls. They made for non traditional but perfect place settings. It was easy to top black chargers with white plates and these fun plaid ones. A simple dinner plate is all you will need with so much going on at this table for a holiday feast!
Black napkins and red Pioneer Woman flatware were another way to coordinate with my wrapping paper.
Crystal water glasses and ruby wine goblets rounded out the table settings.
I loved how (totally unplanned) the black metal frame of my chandelier coordinated with the table colors.
