15 Dreamy Farmhouse Porches

Farmhouse style seems to be all the rage.  I still have some trouble always discerning between “farmhouse” and “coastal”, particularly when it comes to porches.  Searching the internet for some inspiring ideas for my front porch I came across these 15 dreamy farmhouse porches that make you want to spend your summer out on the porch.

Couldn’t you imagine pioneers sitting on the front porch of this little farmhouse or chickens running around the yard?  This is actually a brand new home built by Bonterra Design and Builders in Texas.  This certainly proves you don’t have to have a huge porch to get that farmhouse style.

This South Carolina home isn’t likely a farmhouse, but this would be a dreamy porch on a big old farmhouse anywhere.

I imagine this porch being on one of the stone farmhouses I see dotting the landscape when I drive across Pennsylvania heading East from Ohio.  This looks like a cozy place to escape the summer heat or a great place to cuddle around a fire, under a quilt on a cold Fall evening.

An afternoon on the porch can be nice, but evenings on the porch are heavenly.  Just two steps flank this entire porch which allow quick access to the yard for catching fireflys at night.

Here is a classic style of farmhouse with a porch all the way across the front and wrapping around the side.  I would love to have a screened part of my porch like this one has on the side.

Being only slightly raised from ground level makes a farmhouse porch seem a little more rustic and accessible than one with many stairs up to it.

Beautiful homes are now being built in the farmhouse style like the one above built by Landis Architects and Builders.  You don’t have to do a fixer-upper and start with an old home to get a lovely farmhouse with a classic porch like this one.

A simple white exterior plays host to this farmhouse front porch.  A new build, this home’s outbuilding is designed and painted to look like a classic red farmyard barn.

Laurie Anna’s farmhouse back porch is nothing fancy, just a nice spot to sit down and rest for a bit after a long day of hard work on the house or farm.

A gate on a porch makes it easy to have little children and the dog hang out on the porch with you without anyone falling down the stairs or running away.

Sara may not have a full fledged farm but she has chickens out back behind her shabby chic screen porch.  This is where the family gathers to relax and connect.

I hadn’t really studied Chip and Joanna Gaines’ home when looking for ideas for my porch, but from watching Fixer Upper, it seems to me their porch is much like this.  Having a big old farmhouse table on the porch is just perfect for summer dinners

This red and white farmhouse was a classic “I” house to which an addition made it into a classic “H” house.  The porches are simple and only slightly raised from the rest of the home’s elevation.

A porch feels like a room when decorated with comfy pillows, candles and tablecloths, and how about that view?

  1. I would love to have a decent size front porch! Decent size as in room enough to have a park style bench and a few small tables. Maybe even a comfy chair and a ceiling fan. That’s not asking for too much is it?
