The View from Foxglove Hill
Lately, I found myself thinking about something I’ve heard over and over again for years.
“I wish I knew how to do that.”
Sometimes people are talking about arranging flowers. Sometimes they’re talking about decorating a room or setting a beautiful table. But the sentence is almost always the same.
The funny thing is, I don’t believe most people are really saying they don’t know how. I think they’re saying they’re afraid they won’t do it well enough.

Writing this week’s post reminded me that none of us starts out knowing exactly what we’re doing. My first tables weren’t magazine-worthy. My decorating decisions weren’t always right the first time.
The difference wasn’t talent. It was simply creating one table, then another, and another until my eye learned what my hands didn’t know yet.
Maybe that’s true of more than decorating. Sometimes confidence doesn’t come first. Sometimes confidence is the reward for beginning.
“With that in mind, I decided to put everything I’ve learned about styling a tablescape into one step-by-step guide…”
How to Style a Beautiful Tablescape Step by Step

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that creating a beautiful home isn’t about buying everything at once. It’s about making thoughtful choices that have the biggest impact.
That’s exactly what inspired another recent post where I shared the least expensive way I know to make almost any room feel more finished and inviting. It’s one of those decorating tricks that delivers far more impact than its price tag would suggest.
If you haven’t read it yet, I think you’ll enjoy it: The Least Expensive Way to Decorate Your Home.

This week, my husband, Lily, and I are heading back to Celebration for a few days to visit my dad, my sister, and some dear friends. It’s always wonderful to go back and spend time with people we love, but I have to admit—I also love coming home again. Somehow being away always gives me fresh eyes for my own house and new ideas for projects waiting at Foxglove Hill.
How about you? Are you someone who loves to travel, or are you happiest right at home?
This week at Foxglove Hill
I’m Loving:
I’m waiting (rather impatiently!) for this custom table pad to arrive for our new dining table. This isn’t my first one—they’re one of those purchases that quietly protect a piece of furniture for years while making entertaining completely stress-free.

I’m Styling:Â
I’m finally hanging the Cato curtain rod from Two Pages Curtains, and I’m honestly impressed. If you’ve ever fought with curtain rings getting stuck where two rods connect, this solves the problem beautifully. The hooks glide smoothly from one end to the other, making opening and closing drapes effortless. If you’re shopping at Two Pages, you can use my code CHLOECRABTREE for 22% off.
I’m Using Every Day:
This little pill organizer goes with me everywhere. If you’ve ever opened your suitcase to discover vitamins scattered through your clothes, you’ll appreciate this design. The daily containers lock securely inside a metal case, so nothing pops open while you’re traveling.

Thank you, as always, for spending a little part of your week with me. Whether you’re arranging flowers, hanging curtains, setting the table, or simply enjoying your morning coffee, I hope you remember that beautiful homes aren’t created all at once. They’re built one thoughtful choice—and one little bit of courage—at a time.
I’ll see you next Tuesday from Foxglove Hill.
