A Life in Celebration

This is my place to talk about what is happening at my house and in my little corner of the world, which happens to be Celebration, Florida! Yes, this is the community Disney built and I LOVE living here, (except for the heat in the summers). If you want to know about it, let me know in the comments below!

Rules I have been breaking, (I had no idea!)

The really funny thing is that I am breaking on right now!

This is my bedroom. Don’t you love the peek of my new floor? Now don’t start in on my linens, that is one of the things I still have to do. I have almost decided on this beautiful quilt…let me know what you think in the comments below!

BUT…this is about the rules I am breaking! I came across this article on Apartment Therapy that talks about Bedroom Etiquette.

  1. Evidently you aren’t supposed to sit on your bed in your street clothes…GUILTY! Now that I am reading about fungi, dead skin cells and other people’s bodily fluids, I am NOT going to be doing this again! (At least in the past I only sat on top of my bedspread which gets turned down and not slept under at night.)
  2. Don’t put luggage and handbags on your bed. Now this one I only break a little…no luggage for this girl, heck, I have a white bedspread, and you know how dirty the airlines get your suitcases, right? But my purse? Yes, I have put it on my bed, but once again, on top of my bedspread! (Like that really makes a difference – HA!)
  3. No coats in the bedroom. Hey, I am good here! I live in Florida where I rarely need a coat, and I have plenty of hooks on the back of my closet door just in case!

So…let me know what you think about these rules, and I can promise you I will be doing a better job of keeping my bed clean!

I can’t believe I forgot a wreath! Really! How many wreaths have I made over the years? Check out some of my wreaths!

My favorite Mother’s Day shopping site, (and other occasions, too)

When I have to buy a gift for someone who is difficult to buy for, I always head over to Uncommon Goods. If you aren’t familiar with this site, you REALLY need to take a look!

Here are my ideas for hard to buy for different moms…
For moms who read to fall asleep at night.
For moms who enjoy a wine slushie! (or yourself!)
For the mom who deserves a special note.
For moms who love hot chocolate.
For moms who prefer tea.
For moms who do yoga.
For moms who need some pampering.
For moms who love salads.
For moms who love mimosas!

Feedback and questions!

I LOVE hearing from you all and by putting this into a blog post instead of just an email, this is a makes it so much easier for YOU to leave feedback in the comment section below! I read all of the comments and try to respond to them all. I would like to know what you think of this new format, and what you want to see here on the blog! I LOVE entertaining, hosting parties and decorating my home for the holidays and changing seasons, which usually involves DIY crafts of one kind or another. OH! My new kitchen is coming along and I look forward to sharing more recipes when that gets done! If you have never seen my recipe for Individual Beef Wellington, well, that is my favorite “go to” dinner party entree! If that gives you any ideas for requests, let me know! I will soon (fingers crossed) be in my new studio being built out back and will be making more YouTube videos at that time. (I am currently crafting in my closet – thank goodness it is BIG!)

Thanks for sticking around and reading this if you made it all the way to here! Hugs to all!!

  1. I really enjoy following your work. I too break those rules. In fact, I have never heard of them before.
Of course now I start wondering of things related to it. If you shouldn’t sit on your bed because of the transference of things onto the bed then by extension should you sit on your couch/chair in pajamas? Won’t it transfer from there onto your pajamas and then to your bed? Etcetra, etcetra. Down the rabbit hole I go. Lol.
I am looking forward to all your future posts.

  2. I love your white bedspread idea – I have two white matelasse coverlets on my bed and three pillow shams – two are white matelasse and the third is a quilted pillow sham I found at Tuesday Morning years ago. They’ve held up very well and are easy to wash, too. Two quilts that my mother made are at the foot of my bed. I love the look!

  3. So funny Chloe – I am not a rule breaker, The only time I ever “sit” on my bed is when I’m in my pajamas and going to bed lol. I wonder if it makes a difference where you live; if you live in a climate that has four definitive seasons like we do here (especially winter and snow), then many homes have a dedicated closet or even a mudroom for jackets, coats, boots, scarfs, mitts, and hats – there’s just so much of it! And its natural to leave purses where the rest of the outwear is too.

The new bedspread is lovely and I can’t wait to see what you finally end up with! Take care down there!
