A Beach Ball Tablescape

Summer Beach Ball Tablescape

I have never been much of a fashion maven, but have alway loved Kate Spade designed home goods.  A couple of summers ago I hosted this fun beach ball themed cocktail party which didn’t involve a beach ball tablescape, but after the party, looking around at the decor, I knew I couldn’t let it all go without dressing the table at least to share here with all of you.  This table was inspired by these fun Kate Spade brand dishes and napkins.  Dressing a table doesn’t have to be formal which is certainly true with a beach ball tablescape!

My rather formal, but simple modern glass topped table was dressed with multi-colored placemats that were topped with my everyday white square dinner plates.  Those white square plates were used as chargers beneath these super fun striped Kate Spade melamine multi stripe dinner plates.

The floral arrangement I used for the party was perfect for the tablescape, still sporting cute little beach balls and other sand toys along with some grasses and flowers to give that beachy feel.

The beach balls I used on the tabletop were tiny versions of the summer classic.  I didn’t choose to, but you could use a Sharpie to write on the balls and use them as placecards.

The napkins are also Kate Spade New York, Harbour Drive Table Linens Collection.  I selected two of each, in pink, navy, cornflower and green.  I thought the bright colors added to the fun feel of the tablescape.  My everyday crystal is the Mikasa Cheers collection.  The random fun patterns seemed like the perfect combination for this amusing tablescape.

I do seem to love everything that Kate Spade New York comes out with for her tabletop line.  If you feel the same way you might want to check out my Dog Days of Summer party with cute Kate Spade dishes covered with little dachshunds.

Instead of ocean driftwood, I’ll check out the banks of Seneca Creek and Roaring Creek for some, plus water-smoothed rock. Bonus points for beach glass. And shells.

I have a recipe for Sand Pudding that I serve in a plastic beach bucket and matching scoop – I think that will be perfect with this theme!

Hot dogs or hamburgers would be perfect on the grill for this, too, I think.

Your small beach balls will be a big hit with this, too. Thank you, Chloe, for such a fun idea!
