Give Thanks Tablescape

Give Thanks and Gather

Give thanks and gather might seem an odd title for this year’s Thanksgiving tablescape from me, since we know we should not be gathering in large numbers.  However, I hope none of you are alone this coming Thanksgiving and know that even if there are only two of you at your table, you have gathered and you can give thanks.

These gorgeous fall leaf placemats and goblets were a discovery from Pier 1 a few years ago.  It is easy to see why these were my inspiration for this year’s Thanksgiving tablescape.  I know these are not traditional Thanksgiving colors, but I have done those plenty of times, too.

Placemats were set on a white vintage tablecloth and topped with my plate stack.  My traditional china, Lenox Lace Point is the salad plate.  Pink and gray plates complement the pink and gray from the china.  Pink plates with a ribbon of fruits reminds me of the harvest, the traditional sharing of the Thanksgiving meal.  These are labeled Franco Giorgi by Quadrifoglio.  I had no idea how happy I would be thirty years later that I picked up a dozen of these in the outlets in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  The large gray dinner plates are from Ikea and made in Portugal.

Although the colors are not traditional, with a vintage white linen tablecloth gives the table a traditional feel.  Napkins are layered gray and pink tucked into an acorn and pumpkin napkin ring.

A centerpiece of faux flowers, burgundy fall leaves and a “GATHER” sign is all that is needed since food will take center stage on Thanksgiving.  Elegant gray wine glasses completed the stemware.  A pair of bunches of wheat flanked the ends of the table, an additional nod to the harvest.

I hope this Thanksgiving you gather together with a few of those closest to you, give thanks and enjoy the company.

  3. Chloe, if shades of gray and purple/pinks are wrong for Thanksgiving, I don’t want to be right! You weren’t kidding when you said you discovered some gorgeous fall leaf placemat and goblets. I love the use on non-traditional and making it my own. Those plates you picked in Lancaster certainly tie it all together. The gray plates and goblets bring it all home!

I think you said it best that if two can be together, that is a gathering, and I certainly hope everyone reaches out to those who are alone this year. I know I will be doing that. Thank you for hosting our hop and prompting us to think about these things as we created our tables. I’m pretty sure it ran through each stylist’s mind about how important it is to include those who cannot be with us, and to find a way to celebrate still.

    1. Oh Rita, you are so funny! That made me smile!! Can you believe I have had those plates for more than 30 years?!! I used to show dogs and a friend and I would drive every year from Cleveland to Philadelphia and she insisted we stop at the outlets in Lancaster. You know, you are right, it is nice that we can share our table visions with one another, even if we can’t gather with family or friends this year.

  4. Chloe, the leaf mats are a lovely background for your plate stack. I love the Lenox salad plates with their soft colors. 7. Chloe your table is lovely….I love the softer hues. I missed so many lovely blog hops with all their inspiration while I was ill. The Captain and I always ask our friends and neighbors who will be alone to come to dinner. My immune system will demand that we have a quiet small gathering this year, but our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones to Covid or other diseases. Hugs and much love my friend on this Thanksgiving of 2020.

  8. I lover these colors for the fall season, and only wish I had picked up the leaf placemats and glasses! Too late now.
