Grand Fall Mantel Decor
As the crisp air of fall sweeps in, it’s the perfect time to embrace the season’s beauty by bringing autumn indoors. I’ve crafted a mantel display that exudes luxury and opulence, creating a warm, inviting focal point for my home. If you’re looking to make a statement with your fall decor, these ideas will inspire you to elevate your space with rich colors, textures, and eye-catching details.

To begin decorating your fall mantel, take a couple of blocks of dry floral foam and wrap them in chicken wire.

You can secure the the chicken wire around the foam with some pipe cleaners or floral wire. I like to secure mine in two spots where the chicken wire comes together.

Go to your mantel and clean off the spots where you will want to attach your blocks of foam with some alcohol wipes. Just a gentle wipe and you will be ready for the next step.

Depending upon the size of your mantel you will want anywhere from two to four or five of the chicken wire wrapped blocks of foam. For this mantel decor I used two blocks on each end. Take Command Hooks and secure them a couple of inches from the edge of your mantel in the spots where you cleaned with alcohol. Place the Command Hooks about 3 inches apart.

Attach a pair of these for each of the blocks of foam you will attach to your mantel. Slip the block over the hooks making sure that the block is secure and not going to fall off of the hooks. Feed the hooks through the chicken wire, and allow the hooks to poke into the foam for extra security.

To get started with your decor, add a couple of garlands to your mantel. You can use multiple garlands, one on top of the other or use just one. You will get more variety to your mantel decor if you add multiple garlands and each one a different garland. Think garlands with fall leaves, garlands with fall flowers or garlands with little pumpkins and gourds.

To secure your garlands, use “S” pins to attach the garlands to your blocks of foam. You can find where the garlands are attached inside the white circles below:

Gather the rest of your decorative items and start adding them!

For a draping look to your mantel decor begin by adding draping greenery topped with some fall colored stems.

To add depth and richness, intertwine grapevines along the mantel, accompanied by an assortment of pumpkins and gourds in various shapes, sizes, and colors. These elements bring the earthy tones of fall into your home, making the display feel abundant and bountiful.
For a natural look, add a grapevine garland to your mantel. Unroll the garland and stretch it out above the leaves and flowers.

Begin adding fall flowers and picks of fall leaves. Use chrysanthemums and dahlias in traditional fall colors.

I used large chinoiserie jars for arrangements at each end of my mantel and added three chinoiserie pieces to the middle of the mantel in front of a mirror. By the time I finished my arrangement only the largest jar in the middle showed. After you have added all of the flowers and leaves you want, add some pumpkins and gourds to your display.

To add faux pumpkins and gourds, use wooden skewers, stick the pointed end into the bottom of your pumpkin and then use the other end to stick into the floral foam block.

If you’re inspired to recreate this luxurious fall mantel in your own home, don’t hesitate to mix and match elements to suit your style. Whether you’re using real or faux florals, the key is to embrace the richness of the season and layer textures for a full, abundant look.
