Interior Decor for the Fourth of July
Decorating for the Fourth of July isn’t just a front porch thing at my house.  With the heat and sudden storms, I am prepared to entertain indoors for the holiday.   Our little community celebrates with a little ‘hometown’ parade in the morning and a fireworks display in the evening.  The 4th of July is a fun time to participate in all the festivitiesThe view above is looking toward the front of the house.  The beautiful model boat sits in an opening that had shutters in it when we bought the house.  We removed the shutters to allow the light from the front windows to flow into the family room.  I love looking through from the sitting room into the family room through that stunning model. Patriotic pillows have come out of storage to show their stars, stripes and americana messages for the summer.

A pair of chesterfield leather sofas from Restoration Hardware flank an oversized coffee table.  Before the table arrived I told a friend the coffee table didn’t have a nice top.   I meant that the top is distressed and rough and perfect for putting your feet upon!  A dozen flags on the mantel meant I didn’t need to add any red, white or blue to my coffee table vignette.
Now that my darling granddaughters are gone I could safely style my coffee table.  It was nice to get out my nautical and beachy treasures and have them on display.
I left glass bottles from springtime on the fireplace. I removed the blooming branches and added  of American flags to the containers that were already there.  The wooden stars are from Target‘s bargain section I thought they were a steal and they add to the patriotic styling of the fireplace. Â
The desk in the foreground is where I do most of my writing.  I enjoy being able to not be tucked away in an office elsewhere in the house.  This is a nice oversized desk from World Market! It is inspiring to to view my family room and the tavern room beyond.  The desk makes a handy resting place for a drink or a book for those sitting on the sofa.  It was delightful to look up from my computer and see a granddaughter’s grin over the back of the sofa.
That beautiful model boat came from Williams-Sonoma. Â I searched extensively to find the right thing for that opening.
The books I have on my coffee table right now are The Nautical Home by Anna Ornberg and   Coastal Living Beach House Style.  These are great coffee table books and have helped inspire me as I style this new home. Â
A white and silver lantern displays flags and more of those red, white and blue stars. Â This sits upon my re-worked bookshelves turned sofa table. Â
The other end of my mantel has American flags planted in an oversized jar in addition to red wooden and a white metal star along with a rustic monkey fist knot and a folded American Flag.  This looks so nice against my shiplap fireplace wall. Â
The tavern room is also ready for guests to arrive for a festive holiday meal!  You can see more of my Fourth of July tablescape here.  Will you be decorating  for the Fourth of July?

I love how you have combined your coastal style with patriotic decor it works very well. Right about now I’m regretting that I didn’t pick up those stars at Target when I seen them they were a great buy. I also never tire of seeing how you style your tavern room, It’s always inviting!
Thanks Sandra, there are always great bargains in that section at Target! The tavern room is going to get some more updates, a wet bar is going in on the other side of the room, but that is my husband’s department, so he has some decisions to be making!
We always put so much effort into decorating for all of the other holidays, but I love your inspiring ideas for July 4th. I really like how you incorporated the flags and throw pillows with your existing décor. We are definitely going to try and accomplish something similar in our home this year.
Thank you Amber! A few pillow covers are handy for changing out throw pillows for the seasons and holidays.
Dear Chloe:
Just looking at your pictures makes me feel like I’m seeing a lovely vacation “getaway””. Your decorating skills make it very fun! Thanks for sharing and linking.
Thank you! It is too hot to do all the celebrating outside in Florida!
Very festive Chloe! Love the woven tray with fish floats! I had to smile when you mentioned styling your coffee table now since your grands went home, I have to get ready to make our beach house kid friendly for the 4th week when my wild 1 year old grandson visits and tries to open every cabinet with a big grin on his face!
Thank you Jenna, I am glad others can relate! No sense in fighting with them to not touch things…they grow up too fast! Have a wonderful time with your grandson, he sounds like an imp!
You are a girl after my own heart…you decorate with symmetry. I love that. When something is not symmetrical, it grabs your attention even more when other items are. A family member throws a big 4th of July shindig so I never really get to decorate for the 4th. I wish I did! You have so much great inspiration here.
Nancy
Thank you so much Nancy! Mine is the house that everyone gathers at so I do lots of holiday decorating!
What some lovely little room finishing touch ideas – I love the idea of just adding a little something to bring out the time of year or a special celebration. x
Thank you Sarah!
Looks great Chloe! I hope you have a wonderful Fourth! I’m sure you are missing your granddaughters already.
Wow everything looks super amazing! Luv it!
Thank you Daphine!
I love the theme, it looks great Chloe I can totally relate to not having things on the coffee table as my house doesn’t with having a toddler bet you missed her though, hope you had a fab day xxx
Oh, yes, Danielle, I enjoyed having them, but it is nice to get things in order again.
Happy fourth of July to you and your family. A few days and it would come and surely you will have a festive celebration. Love how you decorated the place and those cute tiny flags are real and nice accents.
Thank so much Berlin! We will have a great holiday, rain or shine!
I love those throw pillow covers! So patriotic! I can’t believe it is almost July. This year is flying by too fast!
The days do fly by way too quickly don’t they?
I love how you guys get all excited about the 4th of July. I wish that we felt the same about our own independence day …
We Americans do get quite patriotic, don’t we? I am sure you have your own holidays that you all get into celebrating!

Hi Chloe, It has been a long time since I decorated my home for the 4th of July. This definitely makes me want to dust off my decorations and be festive.
PS. Thanks again for all your help.
So glad I stopped by. I found myself inspired by your Independence Day decor. I have been writing a post on a simple approach to patriotic coastal decor and I loved the image of your cocktail table and throw pillows. I would like to use it in my post – giving you credit of course.
Thank for the inspo. 😀
Pamela
Oh, Pamela, I would be honored! I am heading over to check out Be Colorful Coastal!
Now that I am home more than when I was working outside the home, I am hoping to decorate the house more often. I love the colors that represent Independence Day!
I love your fun festive decorations! You’ve thought of every detail.
The room looks great with all the white, red, and blue decorations. I’m in love with the pillows!
Thank you Marielle! Pillows are such an easy way to add some holiday fun or a pop of color.
I love your sofa, very fourth of July! I want to hear how you celebrate it, hope you can post about it.
Thank you Nicole! With the heat in Florida, I bet we will be inside!
Hi Chloe,
love your inspiring decorating ideas for the 4th…your ideas are always playful yet polished.
You are very kind! Thanks for stopping by Celebrate and Decorate!
I love the nautical and the Independence Day themes. I love all the pictures and has given me some great ideas. I do have a room with nautical deco, but I think I will had some Independence day to the decor as well. Thanks for sharing.
Between leaving behind my family and moving states, being a busy mom and wife, with no support system, being a busy employee, there is no ME TIME. My mom has Stage IV breast cancer, my daughter will be seeing a cardiologist for heart issues, and my recent health scares, I need a slow down, and a pick me up!
Oh, I feel you! I don’t feel like I am blogging nearly as often as I used to. I have aging parents that live in the apartment above my garage and just finished having my pre-school granddaughters living with me for six months. Hang in there, it will get better, and God Bless you!
