Let’s Go Camping Tablescape!
Let’s Go Camping Tablescape!
A recent trip to Target and a swing by Spot’s Playground led me to spy these cute canteens! I knew these were coming home with me! Just like that, an idea for a camping tablescape came to me!

Canteens aside, I needed a couple of other accent pieces for my table. A pair of adorable little tent ornaments, complete with a “fire” and a log were perfect. Place settings for this table were so much fun to put together! My woodland placemats from Pier 1 were a natural choice!
A few river rocks tucked around my camping vignette just added to the outdoorsy feeling.
Years ago I bought these pinecone dishes from Target knowing they would be perfect for winter holidays. These are still ideal at Thanksgiving and Christmas and I bought enough pieces to feed an army! Some pieces of this pattern are available from Replacements.
The salad plates were a Home Goods find and are Bonjour’s Sierra Pine pattern. These are a nice complement to my dinner plates.
Flatware was easy, my hardy stand-by Ikea wood handled fit in perfectly with my camping theme. I even wrote an entire post about this versatile set in Best Ikea Flatware. This set is still available direct from Amazon.
I had been waiting to use my aluminum canoe serving dish until I had the right elements for a tablescape. When I spotted those canteens, I knew this was occasion.
There she is in all her glory! This lovely Mariposa Brillante Birchbark canoe has graced many tables. Often filled with finger foods, this is a treasured piece of mine.
What is the camping without the woods? A pair of artificial trees from my Christmas stash flanked the ends of the table.
Little packages of S’mores fixin’s were found at each place setting as a sweet favor for guests to take home. Even without a fireplace, a microwave will do the trick and create a yummy, gooey treat!
Oh my gosh – this is so awesome friend! Love the camping theme.
Thanks so much Chas!
One of the best tablescapes I’ve ever seen. Your attention to detail is amazing. Absolutely darling!

I am NOT a camper, but this table makes me want to be one! Such cute canteens and little tents. Perfect choice for your dishes and flatware. Love it all!
Oh thank you Darlene, I just love setting a themed table! When I spotted all of those cute camping items at the Target Dollar Spot, I couldn’t resist! I still have then all and I think I am going to make a wreath with them now! I am hoping maybe I can sell it locally to someone who is a camper!
