The View from Foxglove Hill: Falling for Beautiful Tables

After sharing so much Halloween inspiration lately, I thought it might be nice to step back from the spooky side of the season and celebrate fall itself. Over the years, I have set autumn tables in so many different ways—some warm and traditional, others soft and neutral, and a few filled with the rich colors and natural textures of the season. This week, I’m gathering some of my favorites to inspire your own fall entertaining, whether you are planning a special dinner or simply want to make an ordinary meal feel a little more beautiful.

A fall table doesn’t have to be filled with orange, red, and gold to feel beautifully seasonal. For this soft and elegant setting, I created a long, low centerpiece using white pumpkins surrounded by pale autumn leaves, then continued the neutral palette with layered white dishes and embossed leaf plates. Rustic seagrass placemats add warmth and texture, while vintage crystal and my mother’s silverware bring a lovely touch of elegance. The result is a peaceful fall table that feels welcoming, collected, and perfect for everything from a casual dinner to Thanksgiving.

Pulled from the archives, this luxurious fall tablescape is every bit as beautiful today as when I created it in 2022. A warm patterned tablecloth inspired the rich color palette, while feather placemats, black dinner plates, Juliska Forest Walk salad plates, and smoky glassware gave each place setting a collected, autumnal look. Two abundant floral arrangements in black urns created plenty of drama, while a pheasant nestled among magnolia leaves, white pumpkins, feathers, and candlelight completed the table with natural seasonal charm.

I couldn’t let a collection of fall tablescapes go by without revisiting this unforgettable table for two beside the lake. With autumn leaves carpeting the ground, brilliant foliage reflected in the water, and a cozy plaid throw draped over the small table, the setting itself provided nearly all the decoration needed. Simple dishes, vintage silver candlesticks, and warm candlelight completed this intimate table, proving that sometimes the most beautiful fall entertaining begins by allowing nature to take center stage.

This colorful fall table celebrates the season with rich color, pattern, and a little woodland charm. A vibrant arrangement of mums and roses creates an abundant centerpiece, while gold pheasant figurines, amber glassware, layered gold place settings, and a checked tablecloth bring warmth and character to the setting. I especially love how the pheasant motif carries from the centerpiece to the beautifully patterned dishes, tying the entire table together with an elegant nod to autumn in the countryside.

Around Foxglove Hill

Something very exciting is taking shape at Foxglove Hill—I bought this beautiful Gothic-style pergola! It is being assembled now, and before long, it will become a charming place to host dinners outdoors beneath a canopy of climbing roses. I can already imagine the flowers winding their way over the graceful ironwork and many wonderful evenings gathered around the table below.
