A Beach Ball Tablescape
If you want to host a dinner party with a fun summertime vibe, you can’t go wrong with a beach ball theme! The next best thing to going to the beach or pool is to host a beachy themed dinner party. It is time for a pop of color after a dreary winter, isn’t it? Several summers ago I hosted this fun beach ball themed cocktail party which didn’t involve a beach ball tablescape, but after the party, looking around at the decor, I knew I couldn’t let it all go without dressing a table. Setting an easy summer tablescape is so much fun with a beach ball theme!

The place settings for a beach ball tablescape need to fun and colorful! Unfortunately these cute Kate Spade plates are no longer available, but I just bought myself these multi color stripe melamine plates that are ONLY $14.00 for four plates! If you want to go with disposable plates, these are perfect!
This was such an easy way to set a fun summer table setting. My rather formal, but simple modern glass topped table was dressed with multi-colored placemats that were topped with my everyday white square dinner plates. Those placemats aren’t available any longer, but these fun ones carry through the beachy theme! The white square plates were used as chargers beneath these striped melamine dinner plates.
Instead of fresh flowers, tuck some beachy-like grasses into a basket for a centerpiece and add a few beach balls and sand toys! If you can’t do the real thing, this beach theme is the perfect backdrop to get you in the summertime mood! This doesn’t take much time to plan and execute, either!
The floral arrangement I used for the party was perfect for the tablescape, still sporting cute little beach balls and other sand toys along with some grasses and flowers to give that beachy feel.
Use mini beach balls on your tabletop! You can use a Sharpie to write names on the balls and use them as place cards.
If you would like a table runner, use a fun summer beach towel down the center of the table! You may also choose to fill glass bottles or mason jars with sand for a beachy centerpiece, although I think my favorite part of this beach theme was no real sand was left behind!!
You can find more summer tablescape ideas at the end of this post! This one would work as an outdoor tablescape too!
Bright colors are a great way to add to your summer celebration. Striped linen napkins are a perfect complement for your pretty summer tablescape, too!
If you love this fun color palette, you might also enjoy my Dog Days of Summer party which has a green and blue color scheme with cute Kate Spade dishes covered with little dachshunds.

Thank you Valerie! I took pictures as I made the centerpiece, I just haven’t gotten around to doing a tutorial on it.
I didn’t even know Kate Spade made tabletop items! Terrific colours! What a great idea for a tablescape – beach balls that is a new one to me and I love what you’ve done here. I also checked out your Dog Days of Summer and thought it was fantastic as well. My son has a “weiner dog” and those plates reminded me of my grand-doggie! Enjoyed checking out your tablescapes!
Thank you Lori! My china in my modern condo up North is Kate Spade, that is probably how I learned of her tabletop line. It is called Larabee Road. I just felt in that modern styled condominium I needed something more modern than my traditional china pattern. Aren’t those dachshund plates adorable!
What a cute, fun and festive table…great job 🙂
Thank BJ, it was fun to style!
How much fun is this! You could serve PB&J sandwiches at a setting like this and everyone would be overjoyed.
Thank you Sandra!

Chloe, what a fun tablescape!! Great idea to add the beach balls to the table and the bright linens are fantastic.
What a terrific tribute. The table is fun, simple and awesome. I love it! Kate’s news saddened me as well. I’m a self proclaimed “Kate Spade” gal loving all her sunshiney fashions, accessories and home goods.
So fun, Chloe!

I LOVE this! Oh, so many mountain-dwelling West Virginians escape to the Atlantic seashore for vacations! I plan to create my own version of this as a thank you to friends.
Instead of ocean driftwood, I’ll check out the banks of Seneca Creek and Roaring Creek for some, plus water-smoothed rock. Bonus points for beach glass. And shells.
I have a recipe for Sand Pudding that I serve in a plastic beach bucket and matching scoop – I think that will be perfect with this theme!
Hot dogs or hamburgers would be perfect on the grill for this, too, I think.
Your small beach balls will be a big hit with this, too. Thank you, Chloe, for such a fun idea!
Oh, I love your ideas, that is going to be fabulous!
