Fall Decorating Ideas You Can Make Yourself – The View from Foxglove Hill

One of my favorite things about decorating for fall is that a few handmade touches can make a home feel ready for the season. A welcoming door swag, a little something on the mantel, or a centerpiece made with gathered pieces can bring in all that autumn warmth. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite fall DIY decorating ideas from the blog. I hope one inspires you to pull out your supplies and make something lovely for your own home.

The metallic corn vase brings a little sparkle to fall decorating without losing the natural beauty of the corn. I painted the ears in soft metallic shades, arranged them around a glass vase, and filled it with flowers in autumn colors. I love a pumpkin centerpiece, especially one that lets me use the pumpkin again. For this arrangement, I secured floral foam to the top of a white faux pumpkin, then added colorful leaves, flowers, and a little bittersweet. A fall swag is a lovely way to dress up a tobacco basket for the front door. I like how the basket gives the arrangement a rustic backdrop while the leaves and flowers bring in all the color of the season. This fall topiary is a wonderful way to use the leaves, berries, pumpkins, and other bits and pieces left from earlier projects. I built the arrangement on a foam cone, then tucked in feathers and wrapped it with faux bittersweet for a finishing touch. It adds a burst of autumn color to a foyer, mantel, or sideboard. A Sunday at the Fall Farm

My husband and I took our granddaughters to a fall farm on Sunday to pick out pumpkins. They thought they were much too old for a trip to the farm, but it turns out they had a ball! There was plenty of posing for social media photos along the way, of course.

We picked zinnias and sunflowers, chose our favorite pumpkins to bring home, watched piglets race, and tried our hand at the corn cannons. We even wandered through the corn maze without getting lost! It was one of those afternoons that reminded me how much fun it is to enjoy fall together, whatever age you are.
