A Late Summer Tablescape

A Late Summer Tablescape

I actually wanted to title this a “moody” late summer tablescape.  Using darker colors instead of bold sunflowers is a little different for me.

These green oak leaves from Michael’s really called to me and I stocked up on all of them I could get.  Those of you in my subscription craft group will remember I used those to make a beautiful wreath with apples that spanned the seasons from summer into fall.

Adding apples and miniature pomegranates added a little color to the centerpiece.  All that I needed to do was cut apart three bushes of green oak leaves from Michaels.   After cutting them apart, simply lay them on the table.

The cutting boards I used came from Home Goods, but you can find mini boards on Amazon too!

Using individual cutting boards to have a pre-dinner appetizer set at the table is a nice touch.  I first used this last year for my Welcome Fall Tablescape.

Tidbits of Merlot cheese, Parmesan shavings, almonds and crackers will delight my guests.

Ikea wood handled flatware makes an appearance at this rustic table.

  1. I just love this fantastic tablescape Chloe! The apple theme with the darker tones does look “moody” in a very good way. The appetizers on the little boards is a wonderful idea.

  2. This is lovely, Chloe. Those chargers are wonderful. I can see them taking you from late summer all of the way into winter. I also like the individual appetizer boards.

    1. Thank you Pattie! Unfortunately, I only have four of them. They were from Better Homes and Gardens for Walmart years ago. I got smarter with the similar ones with pine cones and bought 16 of those!

  3. Love the mini cutting boards for the appetizers. The tablescape is wonderful. Always learn something from your posts. Gayle

  5. Chloe, I just love this rustic table…it is so inviting. Anyone would love to sit down and enjoy the appetizer and it’s pretty presentation. The wood handled flatware is so perfect. The table is a wonderful transition into autumn.

  6. I’m in North Myrtle Beach SC and you always inspire me with your never-ending awesome tablescapes. Your taste and creativity seem to get me thinking about how to use what I have get to get a new look. A DEAR friend who is no longer with us taught me to be a C.A.S.E. crafter (Copy After Somebody Else) in times I couldn’t get my creative juices going. With her in my heart and you on my computer…I got this : )

  7. Lovely table. I was convinced that was a garland. Maybe some grapes on the mini cutting boards and a little wine, and we are all ready to join you !
It is so hot and humid now with a storm coming, but when Michael’s puts out fall things, we really want fall to hurry up and get here.

  8. Just lovely Chloe! The appetizers are for sure going to please your guests. The centerpiece is gorgeous;it’s a nice way to transition into Autumn.

  9. So lovely. I don’t know how I missed this post. You are so creative with your tablescapes but this one has my heart. It has everything I love. It represents the season perfectly. The arrangement. The colours. The mood. The arrangement on the sideboard fits in nicely. Beautiful.

  10. I missed this when you first posted it and that would have been a shame. I like your landscapes a lot but this one is spectacular. I love bringing in nature but fall has the best of everything. Bountiful, colourful and yes, Moody. This is my favourite so far. Really like the arrangement on the sideboard. Beautiful.

  11. Chloe, this is the perfect interpretation of “moody”, and in a good way, as Lori says. I love the muted colors of the plates and the garland – I don’t think that I would have thought of cutting apart the oak leaf branches – what a clever idea. And the addition of the apples and pomegranates for just a hint of color – just lovely. The individual wooden appy plates is such a great idea (especially now with Covid). Who wouldn’t feel pampered at this table?
