Black and White Halloween Mantel Decor Ideas
Create a striking and sophisticated Halloween look with a black and white themed mantel! In this post, I’m sharing how to bring elegance to spooky season using a mix of black flowers, dark foliage, and bold black and white striped ribbons. With classic white pumpkins dressed up in matching ribbon, this monochromatic Halloween mantel decor is both chic and festive—perfect for those who love a stylish twist on traditional fall decorating. Let’s dive into how to create this hauntingly beautiful display!

Continuing my Alphabet Series, this week we are up to “M” and for the season, I am sharing “M” is for mantel, all decked out for Halloween in black and white!

I began with these cute light up jack o’ lanterns from Target! These are a great price, the lights are included, battery operated, AND they have a timer!!

For my black and white themed Halloween mantel I painted my jack o’lanterns with white spray paint.

Take a block of dry floral foam and wrap it with a piece of craft chicken wire.

You can secure the the chicken wire around the foam with come pipe cleaners or floral wire. I like to secure mine in two spots where the chicken wire comes together.

Go to your mantel and clean off the spots where you will want to attach your blocks of foam with some alcohol wipes. Just a gentle wipe and you will be ready for the next step.

Take Command Hooks and secure them a couple of inches from the edge of your mantel in the spots where you cleaned with alcohol. Place the Command Hooks about 3 inches apart.

Attach a pair of these for each of the blocks of foam you will attach to your mantel. Slip the block over the hooks making sure that the block is secure and not going to fall off of the hooks. Feed the hooks through the chicken wire, and allow the hooks to poke into the foam for extra security.

I added a pair of white ginger jars to the end of my mantel and have the two blocks of foam ready to use to build up my mantel decor.

These glitter spider webs from Dollar Tree are just right to add to my black and white Halloween display.

You can simply pull the spider right off of the web and save it for other Halloween decorations.

I tucked some of the spider webs up behind where I was going to build up my display and began to add the longer draping pieces of black foliage to my blocks of foam.

The next step is to begin to add black foliage like the large black leaves.

I continued to add the black foliage and black sparkly branches.

Next I added black and gray sunflowers and some black hydrangeas.

I found this Halloween black filler at Michaels.

This is what it looks like. This is perfect for haunted villages just like you would use the faux snow for a Christmas village.

Any holes I I had showing were easily filled with the black buffalo “snow”.

I took my spray painted jack o’ lanterns and trimmed out their eyes and mouths with black acrylic paint.

I turned over my ginger jars and added my jack o’lanterns and added some black and white striped ribbons.

I used wood wired sticks to scrunch up pieces of the ribbon and wired the ribbons to the sticks to add to my decor.

I didn’t have to tie any bows, I just made loops and tails on the wood wired sticks and added them to my mantelpiece.

I finished this off with some glittery black and white pumpkin picks from Michaels and my mantel is ready for Halloween!
