Summer Tablescape

It is time to plan a summer celebration. Let’s get out of the dining room and away from the dining table and into the out of doors! You may want to style a casual dinner party on the lawn like this one. Last summer my backyard was torn up with construction, so I am so happy to be able to entertain out there this year! If you would like to set an outdoor summer tablescape, this is a good place to start. Easy summer tablescapes for summer are fun to set and even better to enjoy with friends.

Outdoor entertaining is a great way to reconnect with friends after a long winter locked indoors! Instead of using napkin rings, I tucked my linen napkins into the glasses. I incorporated these pink and green napkins for a little pop of color. Strive for effortlessly chic!

In addition to the fairy lights in the demijohn bottles, I used a candle holder with extra large votives in them. These are no longer available, but here are a few alternatives:

A seagrass tealight holder
A pair of elegant rattan wrapped votive holders

Low table in a backyard with tropical place settings and tropical and white covered pillows on the ground for people to sit upon and a rattan bar cart in the background.

I kept my color palette green and white with just a little pink added in. Decide on your color scheme and use whatever you want to style your own pretty summer tablescape.

For a table runner I found a long palm frond that had recently been trimmed from a neighbor’s tree along with a pink and green tropical tablecloth I purchased at Home Goods years ago. Here is a great table runner which would look great down the center of the table.

You will want your place settings to coordinate with your theme. For this pretty tablescape I went tropical. Designated settings were distinguished with monstera leaf place mats topped with smaller woven place mats and finished off with tropical leaf dinner plates.

Instead of floral arrangements tuck palm fronds into demijohn jars. You can add battery operated fairy lights into the glass bottles to illuminate your table by evening! What will your next gathering be? Will you be styling a summer tablescape soon? Your backyard can be the perfect backdrop for an outdoor tablescape.

If this isn’t your vibe for a get more summer tablescape ideas at the end of this post.

  1. Just lovely! Love all the rattan and big leaf motifs – so summery. A meal there would be relaxing and very enjoyable. (Wanted to mention your banner ad is really long – almost 30 secs – and blocks a good chunk of the screen. Annoying.)

  2. Chloe, your tropical tablescape is beautiful! How great to be able to walk outside and find palm fronds – so envious lol. I love the fairy lights in the demijohn jars – you are so creative. Your timing of the tropical tablescape is perfect – I’m in the middle of one myself and you have some awesome ideas here. Thank you as always for sharing your wonderful creativity!
